The present invention relates to a cast cutter that has upper and lower cutting blade portions each having opposing cutting blades formed at either side of the upper and lower portions thereof in such a way that the opposing cutting blades of the upper cutting blade portion and the opposing cutting blades of the lower cutting blade portion are operated cooperatively with each other, such that the upper and lower cutting blade portions perform a cutting operation, while forming a cutting range of a predetermined width, thereby minimizing a cutting load generated when cutting a cast to make the cutting operation simplified, and thereby having no limitation on a cutting length to provide an excellent cutting efficiency.
Abstract:
An acrylic or other polymer composition, optionally containing aluminum trihydrate, and having undoped and/or doped titanium dioxide dispersed evenly throughout is disclosed. Said composition provides a sterile surface which can be renewed. Said composition provides a highly sterile surface upon photoactivation of the surface by at least either low- level ultraviolet irradiation or ambient/natural light (as when using doped titanium dioxide). A method of using such a surface material is also disclosed. Said acrylic or other polymer composition may be adhered onto a polycarbonate or other polymeric backing, optionally by an intervening layer of a third polymer. The resulting acrylic or other polymer/polycarbonate or other polymer combination is adapted to provide ambient lighting when exposed to a light source.

A thermoplastic composition comprises a polycarbonate resin and a mineral filler masterbatch, wherein the filler masterbatch comprises a blend of a mineral filler and an aromatic polycarbonate and wherein the mineral filler comprises at least 20 wt.% of the masterbatch. The thermoplastic composition of the invention has improved mechanical properties. An article may be formed by molding, extruding, shaping or forming such a composition to form the article.

A thermoplastic composition comprises a polycarbonate, and an aromatic sulfonate compound of formula (Y) m -Ar-(Z-S(O) 2 -X) n wherein each X is independently a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 20 alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 20 arylalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 20 aryl, or substituted or unsubstituted C 7 -C 40 alkylaryl; Z is -O-, or substituted or unsubstituted -{O-C 1-20 )w-O-, wherein w is 1 to 20; Ar is a C 6 -C 62 aromatic group; m is 0-3 and n is 3-6; and each Y is independently C 1 -C 20 alkyl, substituted C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 6 -C 20 aryl, C 1 -C 8 alkyl-substituted C 6 -C 20 aryl, halogen, nitro, C 1 -C20 alkoxycarbonyl, C 1 -C 20 alkoxy, or C 1 -C 20 acyl, and further wherein a molded article having a thickness of 3.2 ± 0.12 millimeters and consisting of the polycarbonate, aromatic sulfonate compound, and an effective amount of each of a mold-release agent and an antioxidant has, after exposure to a total gamma radiation dose of 83 kGy and when measured according to ASTM D 1925-70, an increase in yellowness index (dYI) of less than or equal to 45, when compared to the unexposed molded article. A polyester composition, a preform, and a bottle, containing a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate and activated carbon to enhance the rate for reheating the composition is provided. Activated carbon may be added in the presence of active phosphorus containing compounds, or at any stage in the melt phase after prepolymerization and after the polyester polymer is solidified. Polyester concentrates containing activated carbon may be added to bulk polyesters to make preforms suitable for blowing into bottles.
