Thermoplastic polymer compositions having enhanced properties, as well as methods of making and using the same, are provided. Thermoplastic polymers according to some aspects of the present invention may be rigid, but may also be suitable for use in applications requiring a thermoplastic polymer resin. Thermoplastic polymers according to various aspects of the present invention may be useful in preparing shaped articles such as, for example, sheets, films, tubes, preforms, bottles, profiles, and other similar articles.

Polyester polyols, processes for making them, and applications for the polyols are disclosed. Some of the polyols comprise recurring units from a digested thermoplastic polyester (e.g., recycled polyethylene terephthalate), a diol, an optional hydrophobe, and a clarifier. The clarifier, which in some cases is a bisphenol, bisphenol alkoxylate, bisphenol polycarbonate, sulfonyl diphenol, or sulfonyl diphenol alkoxylate, helps the polyol remain clear for weeks or months after its preparation. In some aspects, the clarifier is a monophenol, bisphenol, or poly-phenol having two or more phenylene rings wherein at least two of the phenylene rings lack a common molecular axis. The clarifier may also be an alkylated phenol, an epoxy resin, an epoxy novolac resin, a diphenylmethane, or a tris(aryloxy)phosphate. The polyols are valuable for formulating a variety of polyurethanes and related products-including polyurethane dispersions, flexible and rigid foams, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers and they provide a sustainable alternative to bio- or petrochemical-based polyols.

The present invention relates to a heat-shrinkable film having an excellent shrinkage rate and comprising a copolymer polyester resin being heat-shrinkable at a low temperature. The heat-shrinkable film according to one aspect of the present invention comprises the copolymer polyester resin comprising: a dicarboxylic acid-derived residue of a residue derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid; a diol-derived residue of a residue derived from 4-(hydroxymethyl) cyclohexylmethyl 4'-(hydroxymethyl) cyclohexane carboxylate; and a diol-derived residue of a residue derived from 4,4-(oxybis(methylene)bis) cyclohexane methanol.

The invention relates to a foodstuff intermediate for producing a viscous to gelled foodstuff product by adding said intermediate to a flavour base and by processing using conventional household appliances. The intermediate comprises a household thickening agent with roughage consisting of predominantly insoluble vegetable fibre, mixed with a liquid such as water, milk or juice. The roughage is present in a quantity of between 0.1 and 10 wt % of the liquid and the foodstuff intermediate is packed into portions with a paste-like consistency.

The present invention relates to a copolymer polyester resin and a molded product using the same and more specifically to a copolymer polyester resin that contains 10-80 mol% of 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol, 0.1-30 mol% of a cyclohexane dimethanol compound expressed as HOH2C-[C6H12]m-[C6H12]-CH2OH (where m is an integer from 1-10), and ethylene glycol as the remainder so that the sum of the entire diol composition may be 100 mol% relative to an aromatic dicarboxylic acid. The copolymer polyester of the present invention enables superior products to be provided that reduce cycle time and enhance product moldability during mold processing using a heat-shrinking label by complementing low temperature shrinkage properties that may be exhibited by the polyester resin of the prior art copolymerized with 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol.

A polyester composition, a preform, and a bottle, containing a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate and activated carbon to enhance the rate for reheating the composition is provided. Activated carbon may be added in the presence of active phosphorus containing compounds, or at any stage in the melt phase after prepolymerization and after the polyester polymer is solidified. Polyester concentrates containing activated carbon may be added to bulk polyesters to make preforms suitable for blowing into bottles.
