Abstract:
A flexible arm for use in a medical procedure includes a plurality of bushings and a plurality of double-ball members engaged with one another to thereby provide flexibility to the flexible arm. The double-ball members include a concave bore having a convex interior surface. The flexible arm further includes a wire extending through the concave bore of the double-ball members. An exterior diameter of the wire closely approximates or matches an interior diameter of the concave bore at its smallest point such that the curved members are operable to guide the wire as the flexible arm is flexed. The wire may be adjusted to thereby manipulate the amount of engagement between the bushings and the double-ball members to thereby manipulate the flexibility of the flexible arm.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein faltbares stabformiges Konstruktionselement (10) für mechanisch belastbare, verstellbare und / oder zusammenlegbare konstruktive Anordnungen. Bei einer derartigen Anordnung kann es sich um das Gestell eines höhen- und/oder längenverstellbaren und / oder zusammenlegbaren Möbelstücks, das Gestell einer höhen- und/oder längenverstellbaren und / oder zusammenlegbaren Lampe oder den Mast einer höhen- und/oder längenverstellbaren und / oder zusammenlegbaren Licht- oder Antenneneinrichtung handeln. Ein erfindungsgemäßes Konstruktionselement kann von einer zusammengefalteten Konfiguration in eine stabförmige Konfiguration, in der der Querschnitt des Konstruktionselements linsenförmig ist, und umgekehrt überführt werden. Weiterhin betrifft die Erfindung vorteilhafte zusammenlegbare Anordnungen, die vorteilhaft auf Basis von erfindungsgemäßen Konstruktionselementen erstellt werden können, sowie vorteilhafte Verwendungen der erfindungsgemäßen Konstruktionselemente.

An apparatus for supporting a camera (250) in accordance with one embodiment of the invention can include one or more bendable suppport members (210) extending from a camera holding portion. In one embodiment, the bendable core (314) can include a plastic deformable material that retains it shape after being bent with little or no spring-back, and each of the shaped outer portions can include spherical portions formed from a resilient, elastomeric material.

A hoisting mechanism comprises two main modules; a base (1) and a top-section (8). The base supports two concentric rings (2 and 3) with three or more flexible links (5 and 6) pivotally connected to each ring. There is one inner (6) and one outer (5) set of links, where the inner (6) set is pivotally connected to an inner ring (2) and the outer (5) set is pivotally connected to an outer ring (3). A ring (4) at the top is connected to all of the flexible links with rotary joints (9). When the two rings (2, 3) in the base are rotated in opposite directions, the flexible links (5 and 6) will force the top ring (4) to move up or down depending on the direction of which the concentric rings are turned.

The present invention is directed to mounting clips and structures to support the mounting clips. One such clip is substantially annular in nature. The mounting clip may have internal grip strips within its interior to better enable the clip to engage the supported item. Other clips involve the use of a suction cup and other designs. The mounting clips may be used with a tripod or a monopod, and in some embodiments a tripod with flexible legs utilizing ball and socket joint connectors which, when interconnected, form a flexible assembly. Each connector includes a body with a first and second end portion. An external socket engaging surface is provided at one end of the body. The other end of the body has an internal cavity. The socket engaging surface of one connector is snapped into the internal cavity of another to interconnect the connectors. In some embodiments, the ball and socket joint connectors utilize an over-molded strip around the outside of the connector to facilitate in their use for gripping.
