Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain a timing synchronization signal from a base station over a cellular wireless communication link. The UE may configure, based at least in part on the timing synchronization signal, a timer function of the UE as a precision time protocol (PTP) server. The UE may configure a PTP announce message based on the timer function and, in some examples, one or more metrics of the cellular wireless communication link. The UE may transmit the PTP announce message over a local communication network.

Systems, methods, and devices of the various embodiments enable rate shaping of content data delivered to a client application. A processor may determine an ingress rate of content data to a buffer. The processor may determine an amount of the content data stored in the buffer. The processor may determine an egress rate of the content data from the buffer to the client application based on the ingress rate and the amount of content data stored in the buffer. The processor may send the content data from the buffer to the client application at the egress rate.
Abstract:
Provided is a method operable at a wireless communication device or user device for cost signaling. The user device may receive a first indication of an identity of a network. A second indication of whether a cost information is available may also received by the user device. The cost information may also be associated with the network and indicative of a cost of communicating data via the network. In addition, the user device may query the network for the cost information if the second indication indicates that the cost information is available. The cost information associated with the network may be received by the user device. The user device may select the network based on the received cost information. Communication via the selected network may then be performed by the user device.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for determining a quality estimation of a wireless network that may be used to determine whether a particular wireless network meets one or more criteria for association with a station. The quality estimation may be based on a load quality of a basic service set (BSS) of an available wireless network and/or one or more wide area network (WAN) metrics associated with the wireless network. A station may evaluate such load quality and WAN metrics prior to association, and/or after association with a wireless network.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided that include calibrating transmit power of a femto node based on measuring one or more parameters related to usage of the femto node. The femto node can temporarily increase transmit power and analyze received measurement reports to determine a transmit power calibration. The femto node can additionally measure uplink received signal strength indicators over multiple time periods following handover of a user equipment (UE) to determine whether to increase transmit power to cover the UE.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, at a modem from an application processor, sets of values for connected mode discontinuous reception (C-DRX) configuration parameters, each of the sets of values for the C-DRX configuration parameters being associated with a corresponding one of a plurality of active applications. The UE may determine a set of selected values for the C-DRX configuration parameters based at least in part on the sets of values. The determination of the set of selected values may include identifying an extremum value for a first C-DRX configuration parameter among the sets of values and determining a selected value for the first C-DRX configuration parameter as the extremum value. The UE may transmit a request indicating the set of selected values for the C-DRX configuration parameters. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An access node may schedule traffic with different levels of priority for communications with a user equipment. The access node may receive a time-sensitive networking time-aware schedule from a first interface via an Ethernet frame that defines a set of periodic time intervals reserved for transmitting traffic with a high-priority (e.g., hard-real time traffic). In some cases, one or more frequency resources may additionally be reserved for the high-priority traffic. Accordingly, during the reserved time intervals, if the high-priority traffic is present, the access node may transmit the high-priority traffic on the reserved frequency resource(s). Outside the reserved time intervals, the access node may schedule lower-priority traffic on the reserved frequency resource(s) in addition to the other resources. Alternatively, high-priority traffic may interrupt previously scheduled lower-priority traffic during the reserved time intervals if high-priority traffic is present.
