Abstract:
This invention provides a system and method for attaching a trim cover to a flexible/resilient substrate, typically constructed from foam, which includes a plurality of clips (410) that each has a base (414) molded into the substrate. The bases each include a central "key- hole" slot (512) that receives a corresponding key (514) formed on a stem (960) at a bottom (452) of a clip projection (450) . The clip projection defines a cavity (456) for receiving a trim cover bead through a gap (458) formed between a pair of legs that extend from the bottom. The stem has a length that is approximately the thickness of the slot . By passing the key through the slot and rotating the key to a locked position, the clip projection may be removably mounted to the substrate for repair or replacement as needed. The base may be constructed from a material that adheres effectively to the substrate, while the clip projection may be constructed from a material that exhibits high elasticity and wear- resistance. A cradle that includes a pair of upright posts that each confront a leg (454) may be provided to progressively support the legs so as to prevent single point stresses from forming in the legs .
Abstract:
A fastener arrangement comprises: a) a fastener receiver (12) having a lip (13); b) a fastener element (14) having a body part (15) and a resiliently connected latch member (16) having a hook (17) adapted to engage the lip; c) the body part comprising a fulcrum (18) adapted to bear against the receiver at a position spaced from the lip when the hook engages the lip, with relative flexure of the body part and the latch member giving rise to a force holding the hook under the lip and the fulcrum against the receiver; d) the body part having a press-to-engage, press-to-release actuator member (19) connected to the body part on the side of the fulcrum remote from the latch member; f) the hook having a camming face which, when the engaged fastener element is tipped about the fulcrum by pressure on the actuator member, cooperates with the lip to flex the latch member away from the lip to release the latch member so that the fastener element can be withdrawn from the receiver. A no-release version is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A retainer clip (10) receives a keypad (20) and like on a beltline molding (18). The clip (10) has a face plate (46) having a plurality of apertures (62). A wall (50, 52) extends from the face plate. The wall (50, 52) has a plurality of tangs (58, 60) spaced thereabout. The wall is configured to be received within an aperture (36) in the beltline molding (18). The wall is sized to position the face plate (46) in the aperture of the beltline molding. The tangs ( 58, 60) cooperate with the beltline molding to retain the face plate to the beltline molding (18). The wall (50, 52) and keypad (20) are configured to snappingly engage each other to attach the keypad (20) to the beltline molding (18).
Abstract:
An energy absorber mounting structure capable of mounting an energy absorber without using a hot melt adhesive agent and without producing loosening on those members such as a trim, wherein a rod (2) is installed projectedly from a trim (1) and the rod (2) is inserted into a mounting hole (4) provided in the energy absorber (3), a cylindrical body (7) comprising a cylindrical part (7a) and an extension part (7b) formed integrally of each other is fitted onto the rod (2), the cylindrical part (7a) is fitted over the mounting hole (4) and the extension part (7b) covers the peripheral part of the mounting hole (4), the cylindrical body (7) is fitted over the rod (2) and the cylindrical body (7a) is fitted into the mounting hole (4) and, after the extension part (7b) is put on the energy absorber (3), crimping is applied to the tip side of the rod (2) so as to form an expanded part (2a).
Abstract:
A deck lid bumper (13) having a stud (20') with a head and a shaft (24'), the head adapted to bump against the deck, a receptacle (50') to receive the shaft of the stud, the receptacle having means to secure the receptacle in a frame. A frictional surface (26') is provided between the shaft of the stud and the receptacle sufficient to support the stud in a desired position within the receptacle and a lock is provided to lock the shaft portion of the stud into the receptacle by rotating the head of the stud with respect to the receptacle.
Abstract:
The invention features a flexible strip (10) having one or more longitudinally extending inserts (20, 21, 23) which provide the protective strip (10) with greater impact resistance, greater strength and an improved locking action in the mounting member (18). The resilient strip (14) preferably includes a pair of oppositely disposed, inwardly extending latch members (42) which include inserts to provide the improved locking action. The mounting member (18) preferably includes a web portion having a pair of oppositely disposed web-latch extensions (66) extending across a chord of the body (22), substantially parallel to a tangent to the circumference of the body (22) at its mid-line (72), and at least one leg member (76) extending from the web portion away from the body (22).
Abstract:
A quarter turn fastener (100) includes a deflectable head and part in assembly legs for securing the fastener in a subassembly with one component positioned between the deflectable head and the part in assembly legs. Cooperating lock arms (106,108) on the fastener and lock ribs (208,210) on the component secure the fastener against unintended rotation for loosening. Stop ribs (204,206) on the component limit the distance the fastener can be rotated. Main body legs (170,180) are provided for securing a second component with the subassembly. Cooperating structures of the fastener and the components limit the fastener to rotate only in the lock direction from the unlocked position and in the unlock direction from the locked position.
