Abstract:
To prepare anionic tensides of the glycerin ether sulphate type, glycerin ethers of formula (I), wherein R1 stands for an alkyl residue with 4 to 22 carbon atoms, R?2 and R3¿ stand for hydrogen or an alkyl residue with 4 to 22 carbon atoms, provided that at least one of the two residues stands for hydrogen, and m, n and p independently of one another stand for 0 or a number form 1 to 20 and the sum of m, n and p is equal to 0 or stands for a number from 1 to 20, are sulphatized with gaseous sulphur trioxide, and the acid sulphatization products are subjected, if necessary, to a subsequent reaction and then neutralized with aqueous bases.

Abstract:
There is described a method of reducing polymer tar build-up in the production of methyl methacrylate and/or methacrylic acid by the acetone cyanohydrin process. In the method a stabiliser is contacted with the amide stage reaction medium. The stabiliser includes a hydrocarbon moiety capable of donating a labile hydrogen atom to a methacrylamide derivative capable of reaction with said labile hydrogen atom under the conditions in the said medium. The method herein is especially useful for the continuous production of methyl methacrylate and/or methacrylic acid.

Abstract:
This invention refers to a series of substances according to formula (I): and its synthesis process. The subtances according to formula I above, known as sulphated chelating agents have the ability to enlarge/loosen simple cell membranes or common organic membranes. Furthermore, these subtances have the potential as biocides raw material, with very low toxicity to mammals. These features make the substances of this invention become very useful on many applications.
Abstract:
Suggested is a process for preparing sulfates and/or sulfonates by adding sulfur trioxide to a compound comprising at least one hydroxyl function and/or at least one double bond, which is characterized in that (i) the reaction is performed in a micro-reaction system (μ-reactor), (ii) the sulfation/sulfonation agent used is a liquid sulfur trioxide, and (iii) the reaction is conducted in the presence of 0 to 20 Vol.-% of air, inert gas or organic solvents.
Abstract:
A process for preparing branched olefins which process comprises dehydrogenating an isoparaffinic composition comprising 0.5 % or less quaternary aliphatic carbon atoms over a suitable catalyst, which isoparaffinic composition comprises paraffins having a carbon number in the range of from 7 to 35, of which paraffins at least a portion of the molecules is branched, the average number of branches per paraffin molecule being from 0.7 to 2.5 and the branching comprising methyl and optionally ethyl branches, and which isoparaffinic composition may be obtained by hydrocracking and hydroisomerisation of a paraffinic wax, said branched olefins having a quaternary carbon content of 0.5 % or less; a process of using olefins for making an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a cationic surfactant, in particular a surfactant sulphate or sulphonate, comprising converting the branched olefins into the surfactant, and an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a cationinc surfactant which is obtainable by said process.
