Abstract:
An ophthalmic device includes an enclosure, an antenna, a sensor system, and a first conductive trace. The ophthalmic device is configured to mount on or in an eye of a user and includes a central region surrounded by a peripheral region. The antenna is disposed within the peripheral region between an outer edge of the ophthalmic device and the central region. The sensor system includes a sensor trace disposed within the peripheral region between the antenna and the central region. The first conductive trace is at least partially disposed between at least one of the antenna and the sensor trace or the central region and the sensor trace.
Abstract:
An ophthalmic device (100) including liquid crystal alignment features (106) is disclosed herein. An example device may include first and second optical elements. The first optical element may include first liquid crystal alignment features (106) formed on a first surface. The second optical element may include a first optical diffraction grating (104) formed on a second surface, and second liquid crystal alignment features formed on the second surface. The first surface of the first optical element may face the second surface of the second optical element, and a first liquid crystal material may be disposed between the first and second surfaces of the first and second optical elements.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and computer-readable storage devices medication adherence systems. A container may be provided with a computing unit and display screen. The display screen may be integrated into an interior surface of the container or each compartment within the container. The display screen may display messages to a user about loading the container, the contents of the container, and/or removing contents from the container. A second display screen may also be provided on a lid of the container.
Abstract:
An intraocular lens (IOL) includes one or more haptic structures coupled to hold the IOL (100A) system in an eye. The IOL also includes one or more mechanical-to-electrical transducers (107) that detect mechanical changes in the eye and, in response to the mechanical changes, output an electrical signal. An accommodation actuator (101) is electrically coupled to the one or more mechanical-to-electrical transducers, and in response to the electrical signal the optical power of the accommodation actuator changes.
Abstract:
An ophthalmic device having posterior and anterior features are disclosed herein. An example ophthalmic device may include an enclosure having an insert disposed therein. The enclosure may include a cornea contact disposed on a posterior side and arranged to rest on a user's cornea outside of a central cornea area when the ophthalmic device is worn by a user. The enclosure further includes a channel formed in the posterior side, where the channel extends through the cornea contact from at least radially outside of the insert to an inner edge of the cornea contact, and a fenestration formed there through, wherein the fenestration is arranged radially outside of the insert and formed to intersect with a proximate end of the channel.
Abstract:
A photovoltaic ("PV") module for solar power generation includes a laminated support structure that is compliant to rolling or folding, a plurality of solar cells encased within the laminated support structure, and edge connection strips. The solar cells are interconnected to generate solar power in response to light incident upon 5 a frontside of the laminated support structure. The edge connection strips extend along side edges of the laminated support structure for mechanically connecting the PV module to other PV modules. The edge connection strips each include a continuous connector that provides a uniform connection along a respective one of the side edges of the PV module.
Abstract:
An edge protection member for positioning in a waterbody adjacent to a plurality of photovoltaic ("PV") modules of a PV array that floats on the waterbody to protect the PV array from external forces includes a surface barrier. The surface barrier blocks flotsam on a water surface of the waterbody from floating into the PV array.
Abstract:
A portable writing apparatus includes a writing instrument carriage to hold a writing instrument and an actuator system coupled to the writing instrument carriage to move the writing instrument carriage. A controller is electrically coupled to the actuator system, and the controller includes logic that when executed by the controller causes the controller to perform operations including: receiving input data including a users handwritten characters; and controlling the actuator system to move the writing instrument carriage in response to the input data. The writing instrument carriage traces a shape of the users handwritten characters.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for cytometric measurement of blood cells traversing microvasculature single-file in the eye of a subject. A miniature imaging device, having cellular resolution, records image data that can be rendered into a microcirculation time sequence and analyzed to provide useful biological information.
Abstract:
A method of extracting hydrocarbons from a hydrocarbon well includes receiving an aqueous solution including dissolved inorganic carbon, and extracting the dissolved inorganic carbon from the aqueous solution to create CO 2 by changing a pH of the aqueous solution. The method also includes pumping the CO 2 into the hydrocarbon well and, in response to pumping the CO 2 into the hydrocarbon well, extracting the hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbon well.
