    Abstract: The present invention relates to polymers having dynamic urea bonds and more specifically to polymers having hindered urea bonds (HUBs). The present invention also relates to: (a) malleable, repairable, and reprogrammable shape memory polymers having HUBs, (b) reversible or degradable (e.g., via hydrolysis or aminolysis) linear, branched or network polymers having HUBs, and (c) to precursors for incorporation of HUBs into these polymers. The HUB technology can be applied to and integrated into a variety of polymers, such as polyureas, polyurethanes, polyesters, polyamides, polycarbonates, polyamines, and polysaccharides to make linear, branched, and cross-linked polymers. Polymers incorporating the HUBs can be used in a wide variety of applications including plastics, coatings, adhesives, biomedical applications, such as drug delivery systems and tissue engineering, environmentally compatible packaging materials, and 4D printing applications.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a thermoplastic polyurethane comprising substantially no plasticizers and having a Shore A hardness of 60 or less, which is prepared by a one-step polymerization of i) linear polyol, ii) organic diisocyanate and iii) glycol chain extender mainly comprising ethylene glycol and/or 1,3-propanediol; wherein the linear polyol (i) has a number average molecular weight within the range of from 1.5 x 10 3 g/mol to 5.0 x 10 3 g/mol. The thermoplastic polyurethane of the present invention can be easily produced by conventional production methods, and the thermoplastic polyurethane thus produced can be molded to articles in practicable processing cycles. Moreover, the thermoplastic polyurethane articles have low shrinkage, have good low-temperature properties and good mechanical properties, and do not harden substantially at low temperature.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an ethylenically unsaturated hydroxyl-terminated polyurethane (I) obtained by reacting (i) at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound (A) containing at least two reactive groups capable of reacting with isocyanate groups and at least one ethylenically unsaturated group; with (ii) at least one saturated alcohol component (B) comprising: (iia) at least one saturated hydroxylated compound (B1) containing hydrophilic groups capable of rendering the polyurethane dispersible in aqueous medium either directly or after the reaction with a neutralizing agent to provide a salt, and, optionally, at least one compound (B2) that is selected from saturated polyester polyols (B21) and/or from saturated polycarbonate polyols (B22); and/or (iib) at least one compound (B3) that is selected from saturated polyester polyols (B31) containing compound (B1) moieties and/or from saturated polycarbonate polyols (B32) containing compound (B1) moieties; and, optionally, one or more of compounds (B1) and/or (B2); (iii) optionally, at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound (C) containing essentially one reactive group capable of reacting with isocyanate groups; with (iv) at least one polyisocyanate (D) selected from a tetramethylxylenediisocyanate.
