Abstract: A method of configuring a vehicle assembly line, comprising the steps of classifying a vehicle assembly line (10) into at least three zones (20 to 60) by grouping assembly parts based on the positions for installation operation, assembly procedures, and the functions of the parts, setting, for each classified zone, a standard assembly man-hour used commonly for all vehicle models, comparing the standard assembly man-hour with the assembly man-hour for each vehicle model and zone, and positioning the zone with the largest assembly man-hour for each zone adjacent to the zone with the next larger assembly man-hour, whereby a middle tact (M) can be adopted between a long tact (L) and a short tact (S), and the average speed of the line and accordingly the productivity can be increased by moving the assembly line by selectively using the three speeds.

Abstract: A wheelchair includes a chassis having a pair of side frame assemblies (101, 102) that are rigidly connected to each other by a seat pan (250). Mounted on each side frame assembly is an interchangeable axle receiving platform (117, 118) for orienting drive wheels (115, 116) at a desired camber angle (7). One end of a seat member (105, 106) is pivotally attached to a foot member (103, 104) for adjustment of the seating angle. By moving an opposite end of the seat member along a curved portion (114) of a bottom member (107, 108) of each side frame assembly (202) is disposed forward of the drivewheels on the chassis. Through the one-piece caster assembly, the seat angle is changed. A one-piece caster assembly, each caster can be simultaneously adjusted to a particular location along the frame.

Abstract: A staple includes a length of metal wire shaped to form a crown and two spikes. Each spike depends from a respective end of the crown and includes a shoulder at each end of the crown, a sharpened tip portion and an elbow interposed between each tip portion and shoulder, the elbow comprised of a proximal limb and a distal limb such that the tip portions depend from respective distal limbs. An included angle between each shoulder and the crown is between about 91° and 96°, an included angle between each proximal limb and the crown is between about 60° and 85° and an included angle between each distal limb and the crown is between about 95° and 130°.

Abstract: A lift axle suspension system is provided with a frame bracket member connectable to a vehicle frame, an upper control arm, and a lower control arm. Each control arm has a first end and a second end, with the first end of each control arm being pivotally connected to the frame bracket member. The suspension system also includes an axle connecting member connectable to an axle, with the second end of each control arm being pivotally connected to the axle, connecting member. A compression coil spring having a first end connected to the lower control arm and a second end connected to the upper control arm serves as a lift mechanism for lifting and lowering the axle connected to the axle connecting member. The compression coil spring may encircle at least a portion of and be substantially coaxial with the lower control arm.

Abstract: A structure which is transformable by inflation from a collapsed condition for storage to an erect condition for use has an inflatable tubular framework and at least one flexible web attached to and extending between two or more regions of the framework. The inflatable framework is formed by at least one inner inflatable tubular element (A, B) of flexible, elastic, air-impermeable material and having an inflation valve (13,15) accommodated within an outer sleeve arrangement of a material which is flexible but substantially non- elastic and restrained therein upon inflation. The outer sleeve arrangement is configured to include at least one branch point and/or at least one abrupt bend and the configuration of the inner tubular element or elements (A, B) corresponds to that (branch points (a, b) and abrupt bends (z)) so that the inner tube or tubes will substantially fill the outer sleeve arrangement upon inflation. Each inner tube (A, B) is formed by cutting and bonding of the air-impermeable material to provide a continuous inflatabie compartment of relevant configuration and is inserted through an opening in the outer sleeve arrangement and fed through so as to fill it when later inflated in use.

Abstract: Precise parameters are maintained in a support structure for solar panels or other panel-like structures through use of a collapsible folding structure which is preassembled to precise tolerances at a convenient staging site before being collapsed for shipment. Easy installation with unskilled labor is facilitated by attaching one support joist to a substrate and then unfolding the entire support structure.
