Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for handling articles, for example blood collection tubes, and to a device for carrying out said method. The individual articles carry article-related data that consist of an identification code and further article-related or content-specific data. The inventive method, when used on said data, simplifies treatment of the articles by automatically reading them in, especially it simplifies the sorting of different individual articles. The data allow an automatic association of the articles or their contents to particular persons. The provision of the identification code that is automatically read in during data input further reduces the danger of confusion of different articles that have a similar appearance.
Abstract:
An apparatus for analysing the results of examination of blood by using a reagent cassette which includes a plurality of columns and a data area. An antiserum reagent or a buffer is sealed in at least one of the columns, and data for stipulating the antiserum reagent or the buffer is written in the data area. The apparatus includes input means for inputting the results of examination of the reagent cassette, data read means for reading the data written in the data area of the reagent cassette and blood examination analysis means for analyzing the results of the blood examination on the basis of the data read by the data read means and the results of examination inputted by the input means.
Abstract:
A thin-walled microplate suitable for use in the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique comprising a plurality of thin-walled tubes or wells arranged in a fixed array, each well having an upper portion with an open top and a lower, frustoconical portion having a substantially flat bottom.
Abstract:
Described herein are injection molded containers and methods for in-mold labeling of the containers. More specifically, injection molded laboratory or medical containers such as centrifuge tubes, cryogenic tubes, blood collection tubes, sample holding tubes, and sample storage tubes, and methods for their mass production with in-mold labels is described.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a test tube of the type that are used for chemical and biological analysis, having an approximate shape of a cylinder or a truncated cone, comprising an opening in the upper region thereof for inserting substances, and formed from a single piece of a homogeneous material with a translucent colour, composed of a mixture of a polymer from the family of metallocene polyolefins, that homogeneously contains a polypropylene-based masterbatch of a laser-sensitive additive that changes colour to a different contrasting colour, for example an approximately brown-black colour, when exposed to the excitation of a laser marker.
Abstract:
A container can comprise a side wall and a radio frequency identification tag. The side wall can have inner and outside wall portions. The radio frequency identification tag can be connected to the side wall or embedded in the side wall. The radio frequency identification tag can comprise a chip and an antenna. The antenna can comprise a first antenna element and a second antenna element. The first and second antenna elements can be helically-wound around the side wall forming a 3-dimensional structure.
Abstract:
A biological sample containment system (10) that includes a biological specimen collection container (12) for collecting a biological sample and a label (20) for the container (12) is disclosed. In one embodiment, the label (20) includes a first or front side(22) and a second or rear side (24) having a readable information portion (26). The label (20) is affixable to the container (12) by the second side (24) and with the label (20) affixed to the container (12), the readable information portion (26) on the second side (24) is readable through a portion of the container (12). By including readable information on the second or rear side (24) of the label (20), the amount of readable information that can be included on the label (20) is increased by using the previously unused rear side of the label (20).
Abstract:
A closure and a container assembly are disclosed. The closure includes a first visual identifier and a second visual identifier, wherein the second visual identifier is different from the first visual identifier. The first visual identifier may be a first color, and the second visual identifier may be a second color. At least one of the first and/or second visual identifier may include a fluorescent compound having a characteristic fluorescent spectra. The first visual identifier and the second visual identifier may be provided on the annular skirt of the closure. The fluorescent compound may be provided on at least one of the closure and the container assembly and can be used to facilitate automated visualization of the fluorescent compound under fluorescence excitation light.
