Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of joining two or more pieces of wood based materials, comprising the steps of providing at least two pieces of wood based material; separately applying an adhesive composition (A), comprising a curable resin, and a composition (B), comprising a gel forming substance, onto at least one of said at least two pieces; joining the two pieces together to form an assembly having the compositions (A) and (B) situated between the pieces; pre-pressing the obtained assembly, with no curing of the resin; and then, hot-pressing the assembly to cure the resin. It also relates to wood based products made by the method.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement for connecting planar components of relatively low thickness along the narrow outer edge thereof, whereby connecting bodies, co-operating according to the tongue-and-groove principle are arranged on the bodies to be joined and clip bodies are provided on the tongue-and-groove connection for the pre-tensioned mutual fixing of adjacent components. Furthermore, the tongue and/or the groove, at least in the region of the surfaces thereof which face the other component, are provided with an adhesive layer or an adhesive with an activating substance, or one of the surfaces is provided with an adhesive layer to be activated and the other with the appropriate activator.
Abstract:
An activator composition for the accelerated hardening of cyanoacrylate adhesives, wherein the activator comprises a member selected from the group consisting of: aromatic heterocyclic compounds having at least one N hetero atom in the ring(s) such as pyridines, quinolines and pyrimidines and substituted on the ring(s) with at least one electron - withdrawing group which decreases the base strength of the substituted compound compared to the corresponding unsubstituted compound, mixtures of any of the foregoing with each other, and/or with N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine, and mixtures of any of the foregoing and/or N,N-dimethyl- p -toluidine with an organic compound containing the structural element, -N=C-S-S-, such as dibenzothiazyl disulfide. 6,6'dithiodinicotinic acid, 2,2'-dipyridyl disulfide, and bis(4- t -butyl-1-isopropyl-2-imidazolyl) disulfide. An activator composition may comprise a solution of one or more activators in a solvent mixture which comprises a volatile hydrocarbon and a cyclic ketone.
Abstract:
A device for application of a gluing system of at least two components, such as a resin component and a hardener component comprising a unit of at least two hollow members (1, 2, 3, 4), at least one member for each component, provided with a number of orifices (6, 6a, 6b) in each member designed to apply the respective component onto a substrate (8) below the hollow members to form strands (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d), the hollow members being positioned above the plane of application, wherein the unit comprises means for adjusting the position of the orifices (6a) in at least one of the hollow members in relation to the position of the orifices (6b) in the other hollow member(s). The invention also relates to a method for applying a gluing system of at least two components, such as a resin component and a hardener component, in the form of strands (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d), using the device.
Abstract:
Curable adhesive free-standing films and adhesive systems comprising such films are provided. In some embodiments, a curable adhesive free-standing film comprises a blend of: a) a first film-forming polymer or oligomer; b) a first species comprising first unsaturated free-radically polymerizable groups, which may be a) or a species other than a); c) a first transition metal cation; d) a reducing agent; and no oxidizing agent. In some embodiments, an adhesive system comprises: I) a first curable adhesive free-standing film as described preceding; and II) a second curable adhesive free-standing film comprising a blend of: e) a second film-forming polymer or oligomer; f) a second species comprising second unsaturated free-radically polymerizable groups, which may be e) or may be a species other than e); and g) an oxidizing agent. In some embodiments, the curable adhesive free-standing films may be pressure sensitive adhesives prior to cure. Methods of use are provided.
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a gastric jejunal tube having a gastric lumen and a jejunal lumen that run the length of the tube. The cross-sectional sizes of the lumens change from above to below the most distal gastric port. A method of making the gastric jejunal tube is also described.
