    摘要: Wireless devices in (10, 20, 30 etc) in an ad hoc network each select a channel on which to operate such that conflicts with neighbouring devices are avoided. Each device (20) has a normal power output, giving it a normal range (31) and an enhanced power output, giving it an extended "inhibition" range (33). Initially each device (20) transmits at the enhanced power level, such that it can be detected by devices (40, 50) within the extended range (33). If it detects other devices transmitting on the same channel, it may change to another channel. Once a channel has been identified on which no conflict is detected, the device (20) switches to the normal power level. By initiating the channel selection process at the enhanced level, conflicts between the transmissions of devices (20, 40), which would be detectable at a device (30) within the normal range of both, can be avoided despite the two devices (20, 40) not be able to detect each other directly at the normal power level. To conserve battery power, the process is arranged to have the devices operate at the enhanced power for the minimum time necessary, by dropping to the normal level when a suitable channel has been identified with a reasonable degree of certainty.

Another radio network entity, which sends a transmission power control signal to the mobile radio to control the mobile's transmit power level based on a target value, detects errors in data units received from the mobile radio and requests retransmission. Information associated with the requested retransmission is used to generate a revised target value. The target value may be revised by an outer loop power controller node or by an outer loop power controller entity in the same node as an ARQ entity that generates the information about erroneous data units, requested retransmissions, and/or data units transmission attempts associated with the data units sent by the mobile radio to the radio network.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method, a mobile terminal device and a system for determining a transmission power factor. Further, software tools and computer programs being based on embodiments of the method of the invention are also provided. During an uplink of data between a mobile terminal device and a base station via a code division multiple access (CDMA) system supported by automatic repeat request (ARQ) first transmission containing original data and re-transmissions of different order containing supplementary information are communicated. The i-th re-transmissions are based on the automatic repeat request (ARQ). The transmission power factor to be determined is operable with an i-th re-transmission. A first and a second error quantity are obtained from an evaluation of status information items received in accordance with the automatic repeat request (ARQ). The first error quantity is equal to an number of ARQ relating i-th re-transmissions whereas the second quantity is equal to a number of i-th re-transmissions being responded by status information items each containing an ARQ relating non-acknowledgement item. The first error quantity and the second error quantity allow for deriving an i-th error ratio and depending on that a transmission power correction factor is calculated. The transmission power factor being operable with i-th retransmissions is determined finally from a current valid transmission power factor and the calculated transmission power correction factor.
