Abstract:
A sampling assembly of a single packer assembly may have more guard drains than sampling drains. The single packer assembly having the sampling assembly may be deployed in a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation, and the single packer assembly may be deployed on a wireline cable or another deployment or conveyance. The number and the area of the sampling drains, the number and the area of the guard drains, and the positions of the sampling drains and the guard drains may be designed so that the guard drains which are operational may provide a fluid intake rate exceeding a predetermined threshold if one of the guard drains is congested and/or blocked.
Abstract:
A method for successfully heat treating magnet coils of braided Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 1 Cu 2 O x (Bi-2212) strand. The Bi-2212 coil is fabricated using standard round wire powder-in- tube techniques, and braided with a ceramic-glass braid with integrated carbonaceous binder. The coil is heated in an atmosphere controlled furnace below the high current density phase reaction sequence to burn off the carbonaceous binder and evacuated to remove unwanted gases from the inner windings. The oxygen environment is then reintroduced and the coil is heat treated to the high J c reaction temperature and then processed as normal. As the local atmosphere around the surface of the wire, particularly the concentration of oxygen, is critical to a successful reaction sequence, high current Bi-2212 coils can thereby be obtained.

Abstract:
The invention provides a method of treating a cardiac disease by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of at least one compound capable of inhibiting AC5 to a patient. The compound capable of inhibiting AC5 may be administered singly or in combination with another agent, such as, for instance a β-blocker. In some embodiments, the AC5 inhibiting compound is 9-β-D-arabinofuranosyladenine (AraAde). The compound may be administered in an amount of about 1 to about 200 mg/kg/day, about 1 to about 100 mg/kg/day, about 10 to about 80 mg/kg/day, about 12 to about 40 mg/kg/day or about 15 to about 25 mg/kg/day. In some embodiments, the compound is administered parenterally. The cardiac disease may be, for instance, myocardial infarction (MI) or heart failure (HF). The compound capable of inhibiting AC5 may be administered alone or in conjunction with one or more other active agents. Likewise, the invention provides a method of treating a heart attack, a method of inhibiting myocardial apoptosis, and a method of treating heart failure by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of at least one compound capable of inhibiting AC5 to a patient in the same manner.

Abstract:
A seam clip assembly is disclosed. The seam clip assembly includes a seam clip attachable to a thermal barrier. The seam clip is connected to the thermal barrier, and the thermal barrier is connected to a structure, such as a roofing structure. The thermal barrier prevents or at least limits heat conduction from the seam clip into the roofing structure. The thermal barrier improves uplift strength of the seam clip attached to adjoining roofing panels.
Abstract:
The invention provides an exhaust system including a cylinder head having a plurality of exhaust ports. Integrally formed with the cylinder head are a plurality of independent and separate tubes. The tubes are cast, molded or otherwise integrally formed with the exhaust ports of the cylinder head. The cylinder head and tubes eliminate the need for an exhaust flange, welding the tubes to the exhaust flange and securing the exhaust flange to the cylinder head. As a result, the present invention has less weight and improved performance over prior art cylinder head and exhaust assemblies.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the role of Acr-DNA adducts in p53 mutagenesis in CS- related lung cancer. The distribution of Acr-DNA adducts was mapped at the sequence level in the p53 gene of lung cells using the UvrABC incision method in combination with ligation-mediated PCR. It was determined that Acr preferentially binds at methylated CpG sites. Also, Acr can greatly reduce the DNA repair capacity for damage induced by benzo(a)pyrene diol epoxide. Together these results suggest that Acr is a major etiological agent for CS-related lung cancer and that it contributes to lung carcinogenesis through DNA damage and inhibition of DNA repair. Methods and compositions are provided for either removing an exogenous toxic agent from a combustion product or for preventing the toxic or mutagenic effect of these toxic agents on cells and tissues. Methods are also provided for screening for candidate compounds that protect cells from toxic combustion products.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a blind bolt fastener having a core bolt. The core bolt has a threaded portion and a non-threaded portion engaging a deformable sleeve and a body. A protrusion extends from the sleeve or the body to engage a groove in the core bolt to prevent axial movement of the core bolt with respect to the body and the sleeve. An optional drive nut is positioned between a head of the body and wrenching flats of the core bolt. The drive nut has protrusions engaging mating members in the head of the body.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and a method for tracking an object capable of being used at a sporting event. The object has a unique identifier that is capable of being read by a scanning device. The system provides recording devices and event tracking devices for recording and detailing events occurring with the object, players possessing the object, time and location of the object and other information associated with the object and the sporting event. A database is provided for storing the information and the unique identifier. The database is searchable to locate the information.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for apparatus and methods for operating a garage door. An embodiment of an operating assembly for a door includes a shaft, a graduated drum, and an energy storing member. The shaft is coupled to the door such that the shaft rotates in a first direction as the door is opened and rotates in a second direction as the door is closed. The coupling of the shaft to the door is typically accomplished by a cable. The graduated drum is coupled to the shaft and the energy storing member is coupled to the graduated drum by another cable. The energy storing member is arranged such that the energy storing member stores energy as the door is closed and releases stored energy as the door is opened to assist in the raising and lowering of the door.
