Abstract: A method and system provide and use a patellar implant. The patellar implant includes a superior portion, an inferior portion opposite to the superior portion, and an anterior portion. The superior portion being configured to reside below a patellar tendon and to elevate and/or tilt the patellar tendon. The inferior portion is configured to be seated in proximity to a tibia. The anterior portion is between the superior portion and the inferior portion. The anterior portion is placed in proximity to a patella. In one aspect, the method includes inserting the implant beneath the patellar tendon and between the patella and a position at which the patellar tendon is affixed to the tibia. In this aspect, the method also includes affixing the implant.

Abstract: A mobile device is adapted to at least partially replace the motion characteristics of a natural inter-vertebral disc positioned in a disc space. In an embodiment, a receptacle is coupled to the bearing surface. The receptacle is adapted to accept an implantable material without the removal of the bearing surface, wherein the implantable material contacts the abutment surface of each of the vertebral bodies adjacent to the disc space and leads to fusion and immobilization of two vertebral bodies adjacent the disc space.

Abstract: The present invention provides a device and methodology for use in spinal fusion surgeries. An implant is proved for forming a rigid structure between adjoining vertebrae in a patient. The implant is a cage defined by at least a first end, second end, first side, and second side surface, wherein first and second side surfaces extend substantially parallel to each other to span a space between adjoining vertebrae and first and second ends interconnect said first side surface and second side surface. The cage incorporates one or more flexible joints that allow the cage to be deformed for insertion into a patient. The ability to deform the cage allows a greater ease and flexibility in inserting and positioning the implant.

Abstract: An aneurysm occlusion device (10) is positionable within a cerebral blood vessel covering a neck of an aneurysm on the blood vessel. The device includes a tubular element having a lumen surrounded by an occlusive sidewall including a plurality of gaps. The gaps are sufficiently small to cause at least partial occlusion against flow of blood from the blood vessel through the side wall into the aneurysm, but are expandable in response to a fluid pressure differential between a first area inside the lumen and a second area outside the lumen to allow flow of fluid through the side wall between the blood vessel and a side branch vessel.

Abstract: A vascular occluding device for modifying blood flow in a vessel, while maintaining blood flow to the surrounding tissue. The occluding device includes a flexible, easily compressible and bendable occluding device that is particularly suited for treating aneurysms in the brain. The neurovascular occluding device can be deployed using a micro-catheter. The occluding device can be formed by braiding wires in a helical fashion and can have varying lattice densities, along the length of the occluding device. The occluding device could also have different lattice densities for surfaces on the same radial plane.

Abstract: Medical devices that provide valves for regulating fluid flow through a body vessel are provided. The valves include a support frame having one or more adaptations for forming a leak path between the support frame and an interior wall of a body vessel in which the valve is implanted. A controlled amount of retrograde flow is able to flow through the lead path when the valve is implanted in a body vessel.

Abstract: A sigmoid notch resurfacing prosthesis for application to the sigmoid notch of the distal radius. The sigmoid notch prosthesis generally includes a saddle and a radius portion for attachment to the distal radius. The saddle may be formed from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene or another durable self-lubricating material. The saddle includes an at least partially concave contoured depression having rounded edges that is securable to the radius portion. The saddle may be secured by a sliding notch snap fit design. The prosthesis may be adapted for articulation with the natural head of the ulna or with an ulnar head prosthesis that has replaced the ulnar head.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an aneurysm stent having a base and connector. The base has a vessel facing side and an aneurysm facing side, and is shaped to cover an aneurysm sufficiently. The connector is coupled to the aneurysm facing side of the base such that when deployed the connector is adapted to extend partially into the aneurysm to anchor the base about the aneurysm and alter flow into the aneurysm. Futher, the stent can be used as a delivery mechanism to deliver growth factor.
