A device is provided for discharging two gases from a vehicle to ambient air, one gas having pressure pulsation of a first magnitude. The device includes an elongated body connected with the vehicle and having a first inlet connected with a first gas source, a second inlet connected with a second gas source, an outlet fluidly communicable with ambient air, and an interior mixing chamber, the two inlets being fluidly communicable with the chamber such that the two gases flow into the chamber. The body combines the two gases within the mixing chamber to form a combined gas having pressure pulsation of a lesser, second magnitude and to discharge the combined gas to ambient air. Preferably, the body includes an outer tubular member having the first inlet and the outlet and an inner tubular member disposed within the outer member and including the second inlet and a plurality of ports.

The room ventilator has an intake unit (10) located in the room for drawing in smoke exhaled by the smoker, an air pump for producing an air flow to draw the smoke into the intake unit and exhausting the smoke to the exterior location, a connecting tube (20) for connecting the intake unit to the air pump (40), and a window outlet adjuster for mounting in a window which enables a connecting tube to pass from the room to the exterior location. The window outlet adjuster has adjustable flaps for forming a barrier between the room and the exterior. Another embodiment is a ventilating unit having first and second sensors for respectively detecting the presence of first and second air pollutants at an interior location and starting an air pump when at least one of the first and second air pollutants is detected, and intake unit for drawing in the detected air pollutants, and a duct connecting the intake unit to the exterior for venting the detected air pollutants.

Nozzles (36) are attached to the exhaust stacks from the various controlled atmosphere zones in the treatment apparatus. The nozzles (36) accelerate the exhaust flow from the exhaust stacks, provide a means for measuring the flow from the exhaust stacks, yet maintain the mass flow rates from the exhaust stacks at predetermined levels. The flow from the nozzles (36) is directed through closed conduits (38, 40, 42, 44) to an optional filter (50) and an exhaust fan (52) that provides suction to draw the exhaust flow through the nozzles.

The source capture system (110, 152) recognizes that air volumes will exhibit different characteristics traveling through an air treatment system, and that certain of those characteristics such as cloud-like formation (140) and contaminated air volumes (120) having significant gaseous phase vapor components are undesirable and operate to decrease the overall effectiveness of the air treatment system (114, 156), regardless of what type of technology is used for the air cleaning apparatus (114, 156). Accordingly, the source capture system (110, 152) is designed in such a way as to reduce the occurrence of cloud-like formations and increase the condensation of mist/vapor components of the air volume presented to the air cleaning apparatus (114, 156).
