Abstract:
Devices and a method are provided for providing context-related feedback to a user. In one implementation, the method comprises capturing real time image data from an environment of the user. The method further comprises identifying in the image data a hand-related trigger. Multiple context-based alternative actions are associated with the hand-related trigger. Further, the method comprises identifying in the image data an object associated with the hand-related trigger. The object is further associated with a particular context. Also, the method comprises selecting one of the multiple alternative actions based on the particular context. The method further comprises outputting the context-related feedback based on a result of the executed alternative action.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for accelerating machine reading of text. In one embodiment, the system comprises at least one processor device. The processor device is configured to receive at least one image of text to be audibly read. The text includes a first portion and a second portion. The processor device is further configured to initiate optical character recognition (OCR) to recognize the first portion. The processor device is further configured to initiate an audible presentation of the first portion prior to initiating OCR of the second portion, and simultaneously perform OCR to recognize the second portion of the text to be audibly read during presentation of at least part of the first portion. The processor device is further configured to automatically cause the second portion of the text to be audibly presented immediately upon completion of the presentation of the first portion.
Abstract:
A system for document classification is disclosed herein. An example of the system includes a light source, a camera to capture video frames of the document, an image features database including data regarding a type of document, and a processor. The system additionally includes a non-transitory storage medium including instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: compare a first video frame of the document and a second video frame of the document to determine whether an action has occurred, generate an image description of the document based upon either the first or second video frame, compare the image description of the document against the data regarding a type of document in the image features database, and classify the image description of the document based upon the comparison against the data. A method of document classification and a computer program are also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
Method and system for reading and validating identity documents The method comprises: - acquiring an image of a first and/or a second side of an identity document for a visible light spectrum using a camera of a portable device; - automatically reading MRZ characters and/or VIZ characters in said acquired image; and - identifying the type or model of said identity document, starting by correcting perspective distortions caused by a bad relative position of the identity document with respect to the camera for the purpose of obtaining a corrected and substantially rectangular image of the first and/or second side of the document at a predetermined scale which is used to perform, automatically, said identification of the identity document type or model and to automatically read and identify text and/or non-text information included in said corrected and substantially rectangular image. The system is suitable for implementing the proposed method.
Abstract:
A method of registering a document comprises, with a processor (150), defining (block 505) a plurality of clusters in an image of a template document (300) by assigning each of a number of feature points of an image of a template document to a cluster with the closest mean, with the processor (150), refining (block 510) a correspondence set of the feature points between the image of the template document (300) and the image of the target document (400) using a histogram of Euclidian distances, and with the processor (150), eliminating (block 515) outliers within a correspondence set of the feature points between the image of the template document (300) and an image of a target document (400) by generating a hypothesis and evaluating the hypothesis a number of iterations, in which the image of the target document (400) is captured by an imaging device (110) from a physical document.
Abstract:
A method of computerized searching for visual objects on an electronic document is disclosed. After receiving a selection of a template visual object, a template raster image is generated therefrom. The template visual object is comprised of one or more template object components. A document raster image is generated from the document, which includes document object symbols comprised of one or more document object components. A broad match candidate subset of document object symbols is generated based upon comparisons to the template object symbol. Then, a narrowed match candidate set is generated from those document object symbols of the broad match candidate subset based upon a comparison of the template object component to the document object components.
Abstract:
A method or apparatus for assisting a user to access a plurality of ebooks, and when a user accessing an ebook, for assisting the user to seek assistance from the internet, and for assisting the user to prepare homework, while at the same time, prevent plagiarisms of homework.
Abstract:
Templates of known forms are stored in computer system. The templates are digitized pixels on which connected component analyses are performed resulting in a first list of components. Five to ten of those components are selected to create an ordered feature list for each form. The computer system then captures an optical image of a form positioned on the top of a stack of forms. The optical image is digitized and stored in the computer (or processor) system as a captured digital image of pixels. A connected component analysis is performed on the captured digital image that results in a second list of image components. Image components on the second list are compared to those on the first list and then each succeeding feature in one of the ordered feature lists. If the comparison is successful, the form is known and other marks on the form may then be processed. If the comparison is unsuccessful, a new feature list is tried.
Abstract:
An image processing system and method is disclosed. The image processing system can be configured for use with a mouse scanner system operable to scan a document. The mouse scanner system includes a scanner built into a computer mouse and the image processing system includes a scanner software application operating on a computer. The scanner includes a positioning system operable to output position indicating data and an imaging system operable to output captured image data. The data is sent to the scanner software application where a feedback image is constructed and displayed on a display in real, or near real, time to allow the user to view what areas have been scanned. The scanner software application also constructs an output image that can be printed, saved or communicated.
