Abstract:
A film video player (10) has film gates (14, 15) for mounting photographic film (F, F'). An imager has a lens (L) for projecting at least a portion of a film frame image from the film onto a sensor (S). The sensor converts an image to a video signal for video display. A zoom carriage (25) changes the magnification of the image with respect to the film frame image. A scan carriage (65) translates the sensor with respect to the film frame image in one axis, and a gear assembly (90) translates the sensor along a perpendicular axis as well as rotating it.
Abstract:
A system and method for processing an image of a document is disclosed. The method includes receiving at least one predetermined document parameter of the document. An image of the document is previewed on a display using a camera. The display provides a visual indication of a defect in the image based on the preview. A processor proposes a procedure to minimize the defect in the image. A user adjusts the camera in response to the proposal. The processor processes the image of the document.
Abstract:
Disclosed are embodiments of methods, systems, and apparatus for providing multiple image fields or regions on an imaging array. In certain preferred embodiments, a high density imaging array may be partitioned into two or more regions, each of which may be used to render a separate view of the scan volume. This arrangement may provide an increase in the effective scan volume beyond the volume available with a single imager having a single point of view and may allow for reading of encoded symbols at a variety of orientations that would otherwise preclude accurate imaging with a single imager.

Abstract:
An image processing system and method is disclosed. The image processing system can be configured for use with a mouse scanner system operable to scan a document. The mouse scanner system includes a scanner built into a computer mouse and the image processing system includes a scanner software application operating on a computer. The scanner includes a positioning system operable to output position indicating data and an imaging system operable to output captured image data. The data is sent to the scanner software application where a feedback image is constructed and displayed on a display in real, or near real, time to allow the user to view what areas have been scanned. The scanner software application also constructs an output image that can be printed, saved or communicated.

Abstract:
Film video player apparatus (11) having an optical axis (A), a signal processing board (14) displaced from the optical axis, a video sensor (S) proximate to but spaced from the signal processing board and movable axially, translationally and rotationally relative to the optical axis and movable relative to the signal processing board, and a flexible cable (10) connected to the signal processing board and the video sensor and being coiled at least partially circumferentially about the video sensor for movement with the video sensor means without producing a failure by flexure thereof. The flexible cable (10) has a plurality of signal carrying lines (90) interposed between a pair of ground planes (94, 95), the ground planes including longitudinal strips (100, 101) with longitudinally spaced cross bars (102), the cross bars of one of the pair of ground planes being longitudinally offset with respect to the cross bars of the other of the pair of ground planes to minimize variations in bending resistance longitudinally of the flexible cable.
Abstract:
An optical scanning system (10) for scanning images from film transparencies or reflective copy, and for reproducing images onto film or photosensitive paper to prepare films, printing plates and the like. A platen assembly (16) having two platens (34, 36), each platen having an image area, is rotatable between two positions to selectively locate one of the platens in an orientation for scanning an image area of such platen. A scanner (44, 46) traces scan lines (60) across the image area in a first direction (y) as a gantry assembly (18) transports the scanner over the image area in a second direction (x). To load film, the scanner is automatically moved out of the platen's path of rotation, a sheet of film is automatically raised to the platen which by vacuum force holds the film to the platen, and the platen is rotated to bring the film into a position to be scanned.
