A method for producing an aluminum foil for solid electrolytic capacitors, comprising the steps of cutting an aluminum foil into a shape of a capacitor element, etching a cut end part formed by said cutting, and then electrochemically forming the etched aluminum foil, aluminum foil for solid electrolytic capacitors obtained by the method, solid electrolytic capacitor using the aluminum foil, and method for producing such a solid electrolytic capacitor are disclosed. By use of the aluminum foil for solid electrolytic capacitors according to the present invention, capacitor characteristics such as an increase in the capacitor capacitance and a decrease in the leakage current from the cut end part of a stacked type aluminum solid electrolytic capacitor can be efficiently improved, the anode moieties can be efficiently connected without fail on stacking elements and the productivity of stacked type aluminum solid electrolytic capacitor can be elevated.

A film of an energy-storage device is fabricated by depositing a first material layer to a location on a substrate. Energy is supplied directly to the material forming the film. The energy can be in the form of energized ions of a second material. Supplying energy directly to the material and/or the film being deposited assists in controlling the growth and stoichiometry of the film. The method allows for the fabrication of ultrathin films such as electrolyte films and dielectric films.

Other embodiments include an energy-receiving device mounted to the support structure, and an electronic communications circuit mounted to the support structure and including a recharging circuit, the recharging circuit electrically coupled to the battery and the energy-receiving device to recharge the battery using energy received by the energy-receiving device.

The period of time at or above the anodization voltage is relatively short to prevent damaging the dielectric film.

A polymer gel electrolyte comprising a metal salt, a polymer, optionally a plasticizer, characterised in that the polymer comprises a carbon-hydrogen base chain having at least two reactive groups incorporated wherein the reactive groups have different reactivities. The polymer gel electrolyte neutralises a passivating layer in the form of waste products produced in the electrolyte phase by the metal salt and solvents. The decrease in the growth of the passivating layer provides a battery cell with a better effect and a longer life.

An electrochemical capacitor includes a polymer thin film, a liquid electrolyte absorbed in the polymer thin film, and thin flexible active electrode layers constituting anode and cathode composed of energy dense material of high intrinsic surface area positioned at either side of the electrolyte-retaining polymer thin film to tightly sandwich it between the electrode layers. In one embodiment, the capacitor includes a polymer electrolyte in which a polymer thin film is cast from the base polymer and impregnated with the electrolyte solution, which contains a salt for ionic conduction. In another embodiment, the base polymer material includes an ionically conducting polymer, a perfluorocarbon polymer backbone to which sulfonic acid sites are permanently anchored. The energy dense material of the electrode layers may be physically mixed with battery active material to enhance the capacity and discharge time of the capacitor. In fabrication, the electrode material is reduced to particle size suitable for application to a thin film metallized polymer substrate, and applied directly and adherently on opposite sides of the substrate by injection, spraying, or evaporation, and a final thin flexible film of each electrode is formed with a desired thickness by use of rods if a slurry, or by controlling the extent of spray or evaporation, followed by curing. In another embodiment, the electrode elements are laminated directly onto opposite sides of a single- or double- metallized polymer substrate.
