Abstract:
Closed sockets are formed in the lower surface of a vehicle floor cover, such as a mat or tray. Each socket is adapted to receive a vehicle floor cover retention device which stands up from the floor of the vehicle foot well in which the floor cover is being installed. The sidewall of the body of each device acts as a physical stop to the sidewall of a respective socket, preventing or mitigating movement of the floor cover within the foot well. The top surface of the device may have a first fastener which is adapted to engage a second fastener on the ceiling of the socket. The device may be an adapter which is fastened to preexisting OEM mat retention structure. Embodiments of the adapter include one assembled from two pieces around an OEM retention post with an enlarged head.

Abstract:
A stud retainer (14) is configured to securely retain a fastening stud. The stud retainer includes a base (20) integrally connected to beams (22) that are in turn integrally connected to a wall (24) opposite the base. A stud retainer chamber (28) is defined between the base, the beams, and the wall. A vibration - damping interface extends outwardly from the beams. The vibration - damping interface may include a plurality of fingers (36). The stud retainer may also include at least one flexible brace (80) extending from said wall toward said base.
Abstract:
A multi-layer assembly, such as a sound damping metal laminate used in the automotive industry, having first and second rigid layers and an adhesive layer in between. A retention feature in the form of a raised embossment may be formed in one or more of the rigid layers and may be located near a fastening hole, which accommodates a nut and bolt or some other type of fastening device. The retention feature may impart rigidity and improved stiffness to the multi-layer assembly in the area surrounding the fastening hole, and it may also create a space between the rigid layers that is generally devoid of adhesive from the adhesive layer. This, in turn, can improve the long term performance of the multi-layer assembly by addressing issues such as compression set, spring back and/or stress relaxation. Methods of manufacture and other embodiments are also provided, including ones that accommodate multiple fastening holes, have discontinuous retention features, and use welds in place of nuts and bolts, to name a few.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a strut accessory that comprises: a rod (12) extending along a so-called axial direction, having an end provided with a means (13, 18) for attaching the same to a structural member of the wall to be lined, while the other end is provided with a means (19, 25) for assembling the same with the lining framework (6, 7); two jaws (19, 34) surrounding the rod (12); and a locking means with axial tightening (21, 25, 35) of the two jaws against each other.
Abstract:
A fastener for securing an airbag assembly (102) in a motor vehicle includes first and second body components (124), (126) held one against another with a fastening tab (110) of an airbag there between. A flexible collet (144) from the body of the fastener is secured in a hole (118) of a supporting component in a vehicle roof, and a pin (122) pushed into the collet secures the installation. Tools and fastener structures for verification testing are disclosed.
Abstract:
An auger clip assembly configured to be secured to a foam panel may include a main body having a cylindrical main wall (24) that define a central chamber (40), a first set of opposed threads (26) radially extending from the main wall and a connection stud (50) secured to the main body. Each of the threads includes a leading edge (28) connected to a trailing end(32), which is in turn connected to a stop flap (34) that outwardly extends from the main wall. The connection stud is configured to securely mate into a reciprocal hole of a structure, such as a vehicle frame. The main body securely connects within a mating hole of the foam panel through a quarter turn.
Abstract:
This invention provides a low-profile clip adapted to secure a listing bead to a foam substrate. Such a low-profile clip employs a novel geometry and is constructed from a material that affords resilience, durability, high resistance to a wide range of temperatures during field use and seat assembly and ease of bead installation with high pull-out strength. In an illustrative embodiment, the clip includes a base and a pair of legs extending upwardly from the base and defining therebetween a central region constructed and arrangement to capture the listing bead. Each of the legs extends upwardly from the base to a top barb that defines a gap narrower than central region. In this embodiment, the legs each extend upwardly from the base at a first angle of approximately 80 to 85 degrees and therefrom to each of the respective barbs at a second angle, with respect to a plane parallel to the base of approximately 88 to 90 degrees. Each of the legs has an approximate thickness taken along a direction of the parallel line of between approximately 1.0 and 2.0 millimeters, hi this manner the clip exhibits high performance while defining an overall height from tops of the legs to a bottom of the base of approximately ten millimeters or less making the clip particularly desirable for use in modern, thinner foam substrates. The clip can be part of a festooned arrangement and can be constructed from a blended polycarbonate.
Abstract:
Each clip 1 is fitted into a cutaway groove portion 6 of a pedestal portion 5 of each assembling portion 3 provided on a bottom surface portion of a console box 2. After that, a positioning boss 7 is fitted into a long hole 43 formed in an attachment receiving member 41, and at the same time, a fitting head portion 28 of each clip 1 is fitted into each long hole 42 formed in the attachment receiving member 41. As each fitting head portion 28 is fitted into each long hole 42 formed in the attachment receiving member 41 and a boss portion 22 slides in the cutaway groove portion 6. Each of a pair of elastic locking pieces 31 is elastically locked with the periphery of each longer side portion of each long hole 42.
