Abstract:
A head restraint assembly may include a head restraint, a cam, and an arm. The head restraint may be rotatably supported by a seat back and configured to be automatically rotated as the seat back is rotated. The cam may be rotatably coupled to the seat back and include an engagement surface. The arm may include a first portion non-rotatably coupled to the head restraint and a second portion engaged with the cam engagement surface.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to enhancing the passive occupant protection system for protecting all occupants of a vehicle and consists of sliding bars, a switch and a cylinder. The sliding bars run lengthwise through the passenger and trunk compartments. In a head-on collision event, the crash impact activates the switch that sets in motion the cylinder which pushes the sliding bars rearward together with the attached seats and the trunk, thus freeing the occupants from the danger zone.

Abstract:
A seat back support mechanism supports the back of a seat in a motor vehicle. One component of the mechanism (15) is effectively connected to the seat of the motor vehicle and another component (32) is connected to the back (44) of the motor vehicle optionally by means of a recliner mechanism. The support mechanism comprises a connection between the components. The connection comprises two pivot links (27,33). One pivot link (33) is of arcuate form with a central "V" notch so that when the back of the seat is subjected to a predetermined force, the back of the seat is permitted about a pivot axis (30) whilst the arcuate pivot link(33) is deformed, thus absorbing energy.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a headrest (1) for a vehicle seat, in particular for a motor vehicle seat, with a first assembly for contact with the occupant's head and a height-adjustable second assembly (25, 41), in which the first assembly (101) moves forward relative to the second assembly (25, 41) in the case of a crash, whereby a third assembly (15) on the headrest (1) is provided beneath the second assembly (25, 41) relative to which the first assembly (101) moves upwards in the case of a crash.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the rear seat (1) of a motor vehicle, which is equipped with: a hinged backrest (3); a seat (4), the front end of which is pivot mounted to a floor pan element (6) around a transverse pivot pin such that it can pivot forwards between a use position and an essentially-vertical retracted position; and an anti-submarining element (13) which is supported by the floor pan element (6). Moreover, a transverse edge of the anti-submarining element is pivot mounted to the floor pan element around a transverse pivot pin, such as to enable the element to pivot forwards when the seat is in the retracted position, between an inverted use position located beneath the seat use position and a retracted position in which the surface of the floor pan located beneath the seat use position is withdrawn sufficiently to enable the backrest of the seat to rest against the essentially-horizontal floor pan element.
Abstract:
A headrest support assembly for a seat apparatus capable of positioning the headrest in a variety of positions, including a position that provides headrest support to raise the head while the seat is in a reclined position.
Abstract:
An assembly including a support housing and an actuator device. The actuator device includes an extendable initiator cup including at least one non-random fold and at least in part defining a storage chamber containing a reactive charge reactable to produce reaction products. The extendable initiator cup longitudinally extends from a first length to a second, greater length upon reaction initiation of the reactive charge. The extendable initiator cup is at least partially disposed within a longitudinally extending bore of the support housing. The support housing is effective to limit lateral expansion of the extendable initiator cup upon reaction initiation of the reactive charge. The assembly can include an electrical conductive member or an electrical switch. The extendable initiator cup can extend to sever the electrical conductive member or disengage the electrical switch, thereby interrupting the conduction of electricity through an electrical system. Alternatively, the extendable initiator cup can extend to engage the electrical switch thereby allowing the conduction of electricity through an electrical system.
