The method involves admixing source water, such as from a river or other flowing source or body of water, with a modified cellulose (comprising microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC), microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) or ultrafine cellulose (UFQ) and a coagulant and/or flocculant (in a specific order) to provide a treated water with the modified cellulose present in an effective amount to improve water treatment efficiency, such as in allowing use of reduced amounts of coagulant and/or flocculant, and/or reduced suspended solids, turbidity, and/or color clarification.

    摘要: An anti-corrosion composition containing at least one fatty acid ester, at least one glycol, at least one ethylene oxide/propylene oxide (EO/PO) alkoxylate, at least one polyethylene glycol ester, and at least one modified lecithin is provided. An anti-corrosion composition also is provided which contains at least one fatty acid ester, at least one glycol, at least one sorbate, and at least one modified lecithin. A method of preparing an anti-corrosion composition is also provided. At least one modified lecithin can be blended with at least one fatty acid ester, at least one glycol, at least one EO/PO alkoxylate, or at least one polyethylene glycol ester, or any combination thereof. A method of inhibiting corrosion of a metal surface including applying an anti-corrosion composition to the metal surface in an amount effective to inhibit corrosion of the metal surface is further provided.

    摘要: A method is provided for measuring an electrolytically-active species concentration in an aqueous or non-aqueous solution for use in providing control of the concentration of the species in a source solution thereof based on the measurements. In the method, a sample containing an electrolytically-active species is added into a measurement cell that has a working electrode and an auxiliary electrode, and a constant current is applied to the measurement cell while the working and auxiliary electrodes are in contact with the sample with monitoring of voltage difference across the electrodes until a change in the voltage difference is detected. A feedback signal is generated based on a parameter of the change in the voltage difference that is directly proportional to the amount of the electrolytically-active species in the sample, which can be used for process control. An apparatus is also described.

The compositions can further include at least one biocidal component. The compositions can be formulated to slowly release the biocidal component and/or the cross-linkable polymer, or rapidly release the biocidal component and slowly release the cross-linkable polymer. The compositions can be used to control algae.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing a creped fiber web is described in which an adhesive contains at least one type of polyvinylpyrrolidone and contains substantially no ethoxylated acetylenic diol, and substantially no oxazoline polymer. The adhesive is used to adhere a fiber web to a dryer surface for drying the fiber web, and then creping the dried fiber web from the dryer surface. Also described are creping adhesives that do not contain chloride or epichlorohydrin.
