Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to building surface joint supports, for example, suitable for covering a seam between two building surface panels, such as drywall. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a joint support including an encapsulated adhesive for securing the joint support to the building surface panels. The joint support includes a support strip having a width, a length, a first end, a second end, a contact surface, and an outer surface. An adhesive is disposed on the contact surface of the support strip. The adhesive includes a first set of capsules and each capsule of the first set of capsules includes a membrane enclosing a first component of an adhesive composition.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to building surface products, for example, panels suitable for forming a building surface. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a building surface product including a gypsum panel with an upper edge that overlaps a lower edge of a neighboring gypsum panel.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to plaster boards and methods for making them. For example, one aspect of the disclosure is a piaster board comprising one or more continuous layers of material disposed within a body of hardened plaster material, the first side and second side of each continuous layer of material being substantially covered by the hardened plaster material, in certain such embodiments, each continuous layer of material includes a polymer (e.g., a damping polymer) disposed on a carrier sheet. Another aspect of the disclosure relates to a method for making a plaster board that involves drying a wet body of plaster material while a continuous layer of material or precursor therefor is disposed within it.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for utilizing the by-product of a board plant in production of a synthetic gas (referred to as "syngas"). The syngas produced by way of the present invention can then be utilized within the board plant to, thereby, reduce the amount of natural needed. The method utilizes the heated water vapor (H 2 0) and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) found within the flue gas of a board dryer. The H 2 and CO 2 are used in a gasification process to yield the syngas.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a gypsum board forming device which provides improved slurry spread. The device includes a forming table with an arcuate or angled profile that promotes a uniform slurry spread. An arcuate or angled hinge plate can also be included to further promote the uniform distribution of slurry prior to an extrusion plate. As a result of the improved slurry spread, gypsum board with increased strength and durability can be created.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a fastening system that is adapted for securing a sheathing board to an associated framing member. The system includes a feedband for retaining a series of fasteners and a powered drill for sequentially driving the fasteners. The feedband is made from a membrane of a polymeric compound. As the fastener is driven into the sheathing board, a portion of the membrane tears away from the surrounding feedband and becomes seated beneath the fastener. This acts to seal the penetration point and prevent water intrusion and otherwise prevents deterioration of the sheathing board.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to building surface joint supports, for example, suitable for covering a seam between two building surface panels. In certain aspects, the disclosure provides joint supports that include an elongate layered structure having inside and outside surfaces, the elongate layered structure including a support strip that includes first and second elongate flanges. In certain embodiments, the elongate layered structure also includes an inner facing sheet disposed on the inside surface of the support strip; and an outer facing sheet disposed on the outside surface of the support strip, wherein the each of the inner facing sheet and the outer facing sheet is formed from a fibrous polymer material. In other embodiments, each flange of the first and second elongate flanges includes apertures therethrough, each aperture having a width that extends laterally across at least 50% of the width of the respective flange; and the elongate layer structure also includes an outer facing sheet disposed on the outside surface of the support strip.
Abstract:
A composition and process for manufacture thereof used in hybrid inventive building materials comprising Syngenite (K 2 Ca(SO 4 ) 2 .H 2 O) and Struvite-K (KMgPO 4 .6H 2 O). Starting constituents include magnesium oxide (MgO), monopotassium phosphate (MKP) and stucco (calcium sulfate hemihydrate), mixed in predetermined ratios, cause reactions to proceed through multiple phases, which reactions variously are proceeding simultaneously and in parallel. Variables, e.g., water temperature, pH, mixing times and rates, have been found to affect resultant reaction products. Preferred ratios of chemical constituents and manufacturing parameters, including predetermined weight percent and specified ratios of Struvite-K and Syngenite are provided for building products used for specified purposes. Reactions are optimized in stoichiometry and additives to reduce the combined heat of formation to non-destructive levels. Various additives help control and guide reactions. Building products, such as board panels, include the resultant composition. A significant amount of the composition is disposed adjacent a building panel face.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates a building surface accessory comprising an elongated body having a length that extends from a first end to a second end, the elongated body having an inside surface, an outside surface, a first edge, and a second edge, and an adhesive sheet having an outside surface coupled to the elongated body, an inside surface, and pressure sensitive adhesive on at least a portion of the inside surface, wherein the adhesive sheet is embossed such that the pressure sensitive adhesive has a plurality of raised portions.
