Abstract: Described herein are compositions and kits comprising recombinant adeno-associated viruses (rAAVs) with increased transduction enrichment in the heart and/or skeletal muscle and, in some cases, reduced transduction in the liver. The rAAV compositions described herein encapsidate a transgene, such as a therapeutic nucleic acid. Gene therapy using the rAAVs is described. Also described are methods of treating diseases and conditions of the heart and/or skeletal muscle.

Abstract: Disclosed herein include methods, compositions, and kits suitable for use in calcium imaging. There are provided, in some embodiments, Ca2+-sensing GvpC proteins. Disclosed herein include Ca2+-sensing gas vesicles (GVs) comprising Ca2+-sensing GvpC proteins. In some embodiments, the Ca2+-sensing GvpC protein is capable of undergoing a first allosteric conformational change upon the Ca2+-binding domain binding Ca2+ that causes the Ca2+-sensing GV to change from a GV stiff state to a GV soft state. One or more of the mechanical, acoustic, surface, and magnetic properties of a Ca2+-sensing GV can differ between the GV soft state and the GV stiff state.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling a multi-rotor aircraft that implements the unconventional use of different sized rotors. The different sized rotors than the main rotors tend to generate an unbalanced torque and pitch on the aircraft that effectively decouples the pitch and yaw control from the main rotors. The atypical design tends to lend itself to improved control capabilities and simplified control systems. Additional configurations implement the use of smaller thrust rotors that can be used to generate thrust as well as control yaw and thus counteract any remaining unbalanced torque from the odd auxiliary rotor.

Abstract: The systems and methods for wastewater treatment comprise a porous substrate with photocatalytic material(s), and optionally electrocatalytic material(s), for generation of hydroxyl radicals that decompose contaminants in wastewater. The systems and methods intentionally facilitate the photocatalytic and/or electrocatalytic generation of oxygen bubbles, which facilitate an increase in concentration of hydroxyl radicals and shrink the liquid layer of wastewater at photocatalytic and/or electrocatalytic surfaces where hydroxyl radicals are generated in order to decrease quenching of hydroxyl radicals and simultaneously increase utilization or efficiency of the hydroxyl radicals for decomposition of contaminants. In embodiments, the systems and methods prolong hydroxyl radical lifetime and enhance water treatment performance for residential, commercial, municipal, medical, and/or industrial applications. In embodiments, oxygen bubbles generated on surfaces are compressed into pores or microchannels where they store generated hydroxyl radicals to prolong their lifetime in the gas phase and exchange hydroxyl radicals with the adjacent liquid layer.
