Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE), includes estimating a downlink channel to generate a channel estimate. The method also includes obtaining multiple precoding matrices, by a channel state information (CSI) module including a neural network encoder decoder pair, based on the channel estimate and multiple different multiple input multiple output (MIMO) ranks. The method further includes determining a best rank indicator based on the precoding matrices and spectral efficiency estimates for the different MIMO ranks. The method still further includes reporting, to a base station, the best rank indicator, a channel quality index (CQI), and CSI encoder output.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to numerology adaptation in the presence of passive multiple-input and multiple-output (P-MIMO) communications. In one implementation, a UE may identify a delay spread of a communication channel associated with a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) deployment. The UE may further transmit, to a network entity, a measurement report including the delay spread of the communication channel. The UE may further receive, from the network entity, an indication associated with a cyclic prefix (CP) length. In another implementation, a network entity may receive, from a UE, a measurement report including a delay spread of a communication channel. The network entity may further identify a CP length associated with a RIS deployment on the communication channel. The network entity may further transmit, to the UE, an indication associated with the CP length.

In some aspects, a controller of a reconfigurable reflective surface may receive or determine configuration information for a set of reflective elements of the reconfigurable reflective surface, wherein the configuration information indicates a set of reflective matrices associated with indicating reconfigurable reflective surface information to a user equipment (UE), wherein the configuration information indicates the UE, and wherein the configuration information is associated with reflecting a signal in a sub-band, of multiple sub-bands, of a base station. The controller may configure the set of reflective elements to indicate the reconfigurable reflective surface information via the signal as reflected by the reconfigurable reflective surface. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive configuration information identifying a set of sub-bands for receiving, via a set of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), a signal. The UE may receive, via a first RIS of the set of RISs, the signal in a first sub-band of the set of sub-bands. The UE may receive, via a second RIS of the set of RISs, the signal in a second sub-band of the set of sub-bands. The UE may transmit, based at least in part on receiving the signal, RIS information indicating at least one of: first RIS information regarding the first RIS, or second RIS information regarding the second RIS. Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques, methods, devices, systems, and non-transitory computer readable medium for generating codebooks for reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) s. For example, a RIS controller generates a codebook for a RIS by computing weights using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) function or a fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) function, based on reference signals (RSs) transmitted by a transmitter. The weights correspond to the RIS elements or a subset of the RIS elements. In some aspects, the computation of the weights may include oversampling factors that allow for a higher resolution of the weights and improved search for an optimal precoding setting. Different sets of weights may be used for different incoming beams. The RIS controller may be trained with a pair of transmitter and a receiver to identify/generate the codebook for an optimized set of weights under specific situations.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a base station using antenna groups configured at a user equipment (UE) for CSI reporting. The base station may transmit an indication of the antenna group that the UE is to use for measuring and reporting CSI. Based on the received indication, the UE may measure a reference signal transmitted by the base station and received at the UE using one or more antennas of the antenna group in accordance with the indication. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a CSI report that is based on the measuring of the reference signal using the one or more antennas of the antenna group.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to utilizing SRS resources for various types of usages and configuring transmit power on the SRS resources. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may determine whether a time gap between a first sounding reference signal (SRS) resource for a first usage and a second SRS resource for a second usage in time is less than a time threshold. A base station may determine a sounding reference signal transmission power of a user equipment (UE) and may communicate with the UE according to the determined sounding reference signal transmission power. In some examples, the base station may transmit signaling to the UE indicating a switch from a first power control mode to a second power control mode. The UE may transmit, to the base station and in the second power control mode, a power headroom report which the base station may use to estimate the sounding reference signal transmission power. Generally, the described techniques provide for performing initial access procedures including transmitting or receiving SSBs based on a capability of a UE to use RISs. In some examples, a base station may transmit SSBs using two synchronization raster grids. For example, the base station may transmit SSBs on a first synchronization raster grid for UEs that do not support RISs and on a second synchronization raster grid for UEs that support RISs. In some examples, a base station may transmit different types of SSBs. For example, a base station may transmit a first type of SSB for UEs that do not support RISs and a second type of SSB for UEs that support RISs. A UE may search for and receive SSBs according to a capability of the UE.
