Abstract:
A hydrocarbon resins and optionally an oligomer material grafted with an unsaturated acid or anhydride, such as maleic anhydride, are disclosed herein. The grafted materials are useful in adhesive formulations, particularly in hot melt adhesive application.
Abstract:
The low temperature properties of a blend of biofuel and petroleum-based fuel oil are improved by the addition of an ethylene-unsaturated ester copolymer, or a comb polymer, or a polar N compound, or a compound having at least one linear alkyl group connected to a non-polymeric organic residue.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to article comprising 1) a functionalized component, 2) tackifier, and 3) an olefin polymer comprising one or more C3 to C40 olefins, optionally one or more diolefins, and less than 5 mole of ethylene having a Dot T-Peel of 1 Newton or more, a branching index (g') of 0.95 or less measured at the Mz of the polymer; and an Mw of 100,000 or less; where the functional component is selected from the group consisting of functionalized polymers, functionalized oligomers and beta nucleating agents; and where the Gardner color of the adhesive does not change by more than 7 Gardner units when the adhesive has been heat aged at 180°C for 48 hours as compared to the Gardner color of the unaged composition.
Abstract:
Multilayer protective films that adhere well to many different surfaces and can be removed without leaving residues are provided. The films consist of a polyolefin backing layer(s) and an adhering layer consisting of an ethylene unsaturated ester copolymer layer containing a resin. The films have good tensile strength and stiffness at minimum thickness and can be produced by blown film and cast processes, mono and co-extrusion. The films are particularly useful for protecting automobiles during transportation and storage, a masterbatch of the resin in an ethylene polymer or copolymer to facilitate co-extrusion of the multi layer films is also provided.
Abstract:
Multilayer articles such as V-belts, hoses, rubber sheets, tires are produced from ethylene, alpha-olefin, or ethylene, alpha olefin diene copolymer elastomers which despite their attractive properties, have not been used previously due to the lack of green tack. The problem of insufficient green tack is overcome by the incorporating an aromatic containing petroleum resin.

Abstract:
Polymeric surfaces that contain a resin modifier and are surface treated, preferably by corona, flame, gas plasma treatment techniques, exhibit increased surface tension and retention of surface tension over extended periods of time.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions and a method for selecting adhesive compositions are disclosed herein. Preferred adhesives generally have small domains and/or a homogeneous domain distribution. The method of selecting adhesives is based on size and distribution of the domains.

Abstract:
Improved adhesives are provided through the use of styrenic tetrablock or pentablock copolymers which have a reduced elastomeric behavior under the die-cutting conditions used in label production.
