Abstract:
Compounds containing at least one perfluoropolyether segment and at least two oxalylamino groups as well as methods of making these compounds are described. The compounds can be polymeric materials or can be used in the preparation of various copolymeric materials by reaction with compounds having at least two primary or secondary amino groups.
Abstract:
Fluorinated surfactants having a weight average molecular weight in a range from 1200 to 10000 grams per mole, wherein the fluorinated surfactant comprises at least one component represented by formula or a salt thereof, wherein: R is H, -CH 3 , or -CH 2 CO 2 H; and m is an integer having a value from 0 to 11. Z is a divalent segment consisting of copolymerized units of perfluoroalkanesulfonamidoalkyl (meth)acrylate and at least one of (meth)acrylic acid, β-carboxyethyl (meth)acrylic acid, or itaconic acid. The molar ratio of perfluoroalkanesulfonamidoalkyl to carboxylic acid groups in the fluorinated surfactant has a value from 0.5 to 3. Methods of making the fluorinated surfactants are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A curable composition comprises (a) at least one inorganic or organic compound comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least one hydrosilyl moiety; (b) at least one inorganic or organic compound comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least one hydroxysilyl moiety, the hydroxysilyl moiety optionally being generated in situ by hydrolysis of at least one hydrosilyl moiety; and (c) at least one base selected from amidines, guanidines, phosphazenes, proazaphosphatranes, and combinations thereof; with the proviso that, when component (a) is an organic polymer, then component (b) is different from component (a) and is not generated in situ by hydrolysis of component (a).
Abstract:
Copolymers containing at least one perfluoropolyether segment and multiple aminooxalylamino groups are described. Methods of making the copolymers are also described. The copolymers can be prepared by reacting an oxalylamino-containing compound and an amine compound having at least two primary amino groups, at least two secondary amino groups, or at least one primary amino group plus at least one secondary amino group.
Abstract:
A method of treating a hydrocarbon-bearing formation and treated hydrocarbon- bearing formations. The method includes contacting the hydrocarbon-bearing formation with a composition having solvent and a fluorinated polymer. The fluorinated polymer has units having formula (I): A method for making a composition containing these units is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Acoustic sensors, preferably surface acoustic wave sensors, and more preferably shear horizontal surface acoustic wave sensors that include soluble polymers, monomers (optionally mixed with oligomers and/or polymers formed from such monomers), or multifunctional compounds, for example, that can function as either waveguide materials, immobilization materials for secondary capture agents (e.g., antibodies), or both.
Abstract:
Methods of protecting internal components of an optical device are described by providing a hardcoat surface layer on an internal component of an optical device. Also described are certain internal components having hardcoat surface layers, as well as methods of assembling internal components of an optical device.
Abstract:
Copolymers containing at least one perfluoropolyether segment and at least one polydiorganosiloxane segments are described. The copolymers further contain multiple aminooxalylamino groups that link the various segments together. Methods of making the copolymers are also described.

Abstract:
Fluorinated polymers having first divalent units independently represented by formula (I) or formula (II) and second divalent units containing quaternary ammonium groups. Compositions containing the fluorinated polymer and solvent, methods of treating hydrocarbon-bearing formations using these compositions, and articles treated with the fluorinated polymers are disclosed. A method of making a composition containing the fluorinated polymer is also disclosed.
