Abstract:
A tapping tee assembly and method is provided for fluidly connecting to a conduit. The tapping tee assembly includes a body having a conduit recess for receiving the conduit and further defining a passage having one end adjacent the conduit recess. A cutter is received in the passage and engages a threaded region of the passage for selective advancement and retraction within the passage upon rotation relative the body. The cutter comprises a first component with first and second ends and having a cutting edge at the first end for cutting through a side wall of the conduit to establish fluid communication between the main passage and the conduit. A second component is secured to the first component at the second end either by mechanically securing or molding the second component to the first component.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for delivering a plurality of trading data messages to a server in connection with the monitoring the trading of financial instruments are provided. A listener subscribes to a subset of the plurality of trading data messages generated by market participants or components within the trading platform. A buffer receives the subset of the plurality of trading data messages and stores the subset of the plurality of trading data messages. A server, such as a live alerts server, receives the subset of the plurality of trading data messages stored from the buffer and analyzes the subset of the plurality of trading data.
Abstract:
A method for improving a video-processing algorithm (36) identifies Video data (48) that may have been misinterpreted by the video-processing algorithm (36). The identified video data (48) is provided to a monitoring center (38) that uses the identified video data (48) to modify and improve upon the video-processing algorithm (36). An improved video-processing algorithm (49) is able to correctly analyze the identified video data (48).
Abstract:
A hybrid fuel vaporization system and an apparatus for producing power from a source of liquid fuel. The hybrid fuel vaporizing system comprises: (a) at least one capillary flow passage, said at least one capillary flow passage having an inlet end and an outlet end, said inlet end in fluid communication with the source of liquid fuel; (b) a heat source arranged along said at least one capillary flow passage, said heat source operable to heat the liquid fuel in said at least one capillary flow passage to a level sufficient to change at least a portion thereof from a liquid state to a vapor state; and (c) a vaporizing member having a first surface and a second surface, said first surface exposed to heat produced by the apparatus for combusting fuel, said vaporizing member positioned so that fuel exiting said outlet end of said at least one capillary flow passage impinges on said second surface whereby a stream of substantially vaporized fuel is delivered for combustion.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to multiple-contact woven power connectors that have at least a first set of loading fibers and at least a first set of conductors. When woven onto a set of loading fibers, the conductors define a space. The loading fibers are capable of delivering contact forces at the contact points of the conductors. The conductors can comprise a power circuit or a return circuit. The power connectors may also include tensioning springs that are capable of generating tensile loads within the loading fibers. The power connectors may further include mating conductors that can be coupled to the power/return circuits. When disposed within the first and second spaces, respectively, electrical connections between the conductors and the mating conductors can be established.
Abstract:
An interbody device for the fixation and support of adjacent bone bodies includes a body for implantation at a location between the two vertebrae and one or more protrusions extending from the body. The protrusion(s) are configured for engagement with one of the vertebrae upon implantation and for progressive penetration into the vertebra over a period of time subsequent to the implantation.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to electrical switches that utilize conductors that are woven onto loading fibers and a mating conductor that has a contact mating surface. Each conductor has at least one contact point. The loading fibers are capable of delivering a contact force at each contact point of the conductors. Electrical connections are established between the contact points of conductors and the contact mating surface of the mating conductor when the conductor-loading fiber weave is engaged with the mating conductor and the electrical connections are terminated when the conductor-loading fiber waeve is disengaged from the mating conductor. In one embodiment, the portion of the contact mating surface of the mating conductor where arcing between the conductors and the mating is expected to occur is plated with a conductive arc-tolerant material, such as silver, for example. In another embodiments, the portions of the conductors where arcing is expected to occur are plated with a conductive arc-tolerant material. In an alternate embodiment, the conductors are made thicker where arcing between the conductors and the mating conductor is expected to occur. The contact mating surface of the mating conductor can include a non-conductive portion that assists in guiding the conductor-loading fiber weave when its being engaged and disengage from the mating conductor.
Abstract:
This invention prodives an embossed decorative composite laminate interlayer for use in reducing UV and IR energy transmittance through a glass laminate. One interlayer of the present invention comprises an embossed decorative composite disposed between a first and second adhesive layer, such as PVB. The embossed decorative composite of the present invention comprises a first polymeric support film, such as PET, having a metal coating disposed thereon, thereby forming a metallized film. The metallized film is then bonded through the use of an adhesive to a second polymer support film, forming a decorative composite structure. The decorative composite is then purposefully embossed such that they have protrusions at different angles to the flat plane of the bonded polymeric support films, so as to form the desired embossed decorative composite.
Abstract:
An assembly and method of making the assembly are provided. The assembly includes: a first 7xxx series aluminum alloy member comprising not greater than 1 wt. % Cu; a second 7xxx series aluminum alloy member comprising at least 1 wt % Cu; a joint between the first member and the second member that joins the first member to the second member; wherein the assembly comprises a stress corrosion cracking resistance for a marine environment.
