Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a sensor loupe where the user can look at a gemstone through a passive optical loupe and take a picture of the exact field of view that he sees.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for selectively restricting a mobile device. In one implementation, a visual capture can be to identify one or more indicators within the visual capture. Based on the indicators, an implementation of a restriction at the mobile device can be adjusted. In another implementation inputs can be processed to compute a determination, determination reflecting at least one of the in-vehicle role of the user as a driver and the in-vehicle role of the user as a passenger; and, an operation state of the mobile device can be modified based on such a determination. According to another implementation, one or more outputs can be projected from a mobile device, inputs can be received, and such inputs and outputs can be processed to determine a correlation between them. A restriction can then be modified based on the correlation.
Abstract:
A method and system for printing graphical content onto a plurality of memory devices and for providing a visually distinguishable memory device are provided. In one embodiment, graphical content to be printed onto a plurality of memory devices is identified. A graphical image is then created from the identified graphical content, wherein the graphical image comprises a plurality of sub-areas, wherein each sub-area contains graphical content and corresponds to at least one memory device of the plurality of memory devices. The graphical image is then printed onto the plurality of memory devices, wherein the plurality of memory devices are positioned to substantially correspond with positions of the plurality of sub-areas in the graphical image. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses systems and methods for a computing portal system including: a computing engine for performing computing operations; at least one memory component for storing program code of an operating system; a computing-engine connector for providing operational connectivity to the engine, wherein the connector is a contact pad; a solid package for housing the engine, at least one memory component, and the connector; at least two peripheral assemblies, each assembly for providing power and resources when operationally connected to the connector; and program code, residing on at least one memory component, for enabling functional operation of the engine as a main processing unit of each computing portal, wherein each computing portal includes the computing engine and one assembly, upon operational connection of the engine to one assembly.
Abstract:
Various methods, devices and systems are described for providing distributed storage services. A data storage device is capable of initiating a communication session with an external entity such as a local host computer (and vice versa) coupled directly to the data storage device, a remote server computer, or directly with remote data storage devices with or without intervention by a local host computer.
Abstract:
A method for storing data in a computer (20) having a magnetic hard disk drive (HDD) (40) and an electronic solid-state drive (SSD) (42). The method includes configuring the computer so that the HDD and the SSD are each independently accessible by an operating system of the computer. A plurality of files is received for storage by the computer. A predicted use profile of the computer is defined. A respective one of the HDD and the SDD is selected for the storage of each of the files responsively to the predicted use profile.
Abstract:
The present invention teaches a method for eliminating the visible gaps between screens in a multi screen video wall. This is done by placing optical bridges over the edges of the individual displays, which direct graphical information from the periphery of the individual displays to fill the gaps between said displays. Preferably, commercially available screens are thus combined to form a seamless video wall.
Abstract:
A method of limiting the play back of multimedia content in a memory of a portable media player includes providing a non-rechargeable battery as a power source for the portable media player, and enclosing the battery within a housing such that the battery cannot be removed without damaging the portable media player. The memory of the media player may be provided with multimedia content, or a communication interface may be provided to receive, or to download into the memory, multimedia content, for example at a point of sale. The method may further include limiting the writing of multimedia content into the memory only once, or not more than a predetermined number of times. The method may include downloading a multimedia file into the memory by engaging the communication interface with a communication interface of a file downloading station. A portable media player has controlling circuitry, a memory, and a non-rechargeable battery built into the media player's housing such that the battery cannot be removed, replaced, or detached without damaging the media player or otherwise rendering it inoperable. The portable media player may protect multimedia content, for example, by enabling the download of multimedia files or by playing any multimedia file according to a predefined rule. Multimedia files may be downloaded into the memory by using USB protocol and a connector that functions as a USB connector. An audio plug may be manipulated inside an output socket of the media player to turn the media player on and off and also to adjust the volume of the media player's output signal and to select a mode of operation, or any of these tasks may be exercised using control rings or touch switches.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses devices and methods for a connectivity hub, for connecting a plurality of storage devices to a host system, including: a plurality of ports, each port operative to electrically engage with a storage device; electrical paths joining the plurality of ports to a common point operationally connected to the host system; and a controller operative to associate a relative physical location with a logical identity for each port. Preferably, the controller is configured to perform the association by correlating an insertion time of the storage device in a respective port with a detection time of the logical identity. A connectivity hub, for connecting a plurality of storage devices to a host system, including: at least 23 ports, each port operative to electrically engage with a corresponding storage device; and electrical paths joining at least 23 ports to a common point operationally connected to the host system.
Abstract:
A portable data storage device (dongle) is configured to serve as a joystick. A method and system are supplied for using the dongle joystick to modify the presentation of an a electric media content item over a host and for using the dongle joystick as a user input interface to select a content item to be presented over a host or to select a datum to be stored. One portion of the dongle joystick is connected to the host and held stationary while a user imposes a force on a second part of the joystick to select and play content. The dongle joystick may include a processor to process output into a format compatible with a legacy playing device host.
