Abstract:
In one embodiment, a sliding contact system includes a first metal contact, a second metal contact in sliding engagement with the first contact, and a lubricant in which the first metal contact and the second metal contact are immersed to inhibit oxidation and cold welding of the contacts.

Abstract:
A method of forming integral articles having non-line-of-site contours includes the steps of providing a plurality of molds, the molds having at least one mold channel therethrough. The plurality of molds are stacked on one another to form a mold stack, wherein at least one portion of the mold stack provides a non-line of sight multi-level channel through at least partial overlap of the mold channels between adjacent ones of the plurality of molds. A flowable material is applied to the mold stack. The flowable material is pressed to fill the mold channels in each of the plurality of molds to form an integral article comprising a plurality of stacked integrally connected levels of the material, wherein through interconnection of the integrally connected levels the integral article provides at least one non- line of sight contour traversing in its thickness direction. The mold stack is then separated or removed to free the integral article.

Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a rotating electrical machine (10) that includes an electrical supply coupled to a stator (13), a rotor (12), and a plurality of roller elements (or brushes) (15) for transferring electrical current from the stator (13) to the rotor (12). In one embodiment, each roller element (15) is compressed between the rotor (12) and the stator (13) so that outward forces resulting from expansive properties of each roller element (15) urge the roller element (15) into contact and maintain the roller element (15) in contact with the rotor (12) and the stator (13). For example, in one embodiment, each roller element (105) has a hollow, substantially cylindrical body formed of a conductive material that is elastically biased in a radially outward direction to maintain contact with the rotor (12) and the stator (13).
Abstract:
A low-wear fluoropolymer composite body comprises at least one fluoropolymer and additive particles dispersed therein. Also provided is a process for the fabrication of such a fluoropolymer composite body. The composite body exhibits a low wear rate for sliding motion against a hard counterface, and may be formulated with either melt-processible or non-melt-processible fluoropolymers.
