Abstract:
Provided are apparatuses and methods for transmitting radiotext plus data (e.g., RT+ data) to a mobile terminal. In one example, radiotext plus data is received and transmitted to the mobile terminal in a Digital Video Broadcast - Handheld (DVB-H) data stream. Program or service data corresponding to a program may be encoded on IP and transmitted in audio/video data in a DVB-H data stream and RT+ data corresponding to the program may b transmitted on Internet Protocol (IP). For example, the RT+ data may be converted to Real- Time Transport Protocol (RTP) on a RTP timed text protocol. In another example, a content stream may be received and divided into a program data stream and a corresponding RT+ data stream. The RT+ data stream may be converted to RTP and synchronized with the program data on audio/video data in a DVB-H data stream. The RT+ data may be delivered to a mobile terminal.

Abstract:
A system for representing virtual channels of a broadcast genre type in a display of an IP datacasting receiver is disclosed. Aspects of the invention are applicable to video and audio broadcasting via IP over Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) or IP time slicing over DVB. In one arrangement, the number of content channels available to a user is expanded due to the virtual channels being mixed with broadcasted channels. A profile for a virtual channel may be constructed by either selecting channels or defining a type of program that are preferred to be consumed during a specific time period. A virtual channel may be created by comparing information in the profile that defines preferred channels with transmission units either with genre information or a list of channels that may be stored in a digital receiving device. The genre information may include metadata describing IP addresses, time intervals, names of channels and content. Local content may also be mixed with the virtual channels thereby providing an increased degree of customization of content.
Abstract:
IP data is multicast from one or more servers (4) in sessions through a network (N) comprising a plurality of routers (R) in a multicast tree to transmission sites (S) of a DVB-T network, where the data is encapsulated by IPEs 28 and transmitted unidirectionally to mobile user equipment (UE). A controller (38) builds up a schedule of session data concerning sessions transmitted by the servers (4) and instructs the IPEs to send join messages to receive data for selected sessions. The join messages may include the address of the source and may be transmitted in good time before the start of the session
