Abstract:
A compression clip system where compression is used to close a tissue opening, reduce the volume of an organ, ligate dilated blood vessels, or compress tissue adjacent to various other types of lesions to induce healing. Compression prevents bleeding and the leakage of body fluids into a body cavity. The opening may be surgery-induced as in gastrectomies or formed naturally such as peptic ulcers and hemorrhoids. The system (150) may include a compression clip (10), a suitable clip applier (30), a grasper assembly (260 and an endoscope (300) all brought to the compression site via a multi-lumen sleeve (150).
Abstract:
An elongate open-bored applicator (EOBP) adapted to deploy a mesh comprising (a) at least one inflatable contour-balloon, (b) at least one inflatable dissection balloon. The inflatable contour-balloon and the inflatable dissection balloon are adjustable and located at the distal portion; and, (c) at least one actuating means located at the proximal portion. The actuating means is in communication with the inflatable contour-balloon and the inflatable dissection balloon. The actuating means is adapted to provide the inflatable contour-balloon and the inflatable dissection balloon with independent activation and/or de-activation.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a cleaning device and a method for cleaning surgical instruments, especially the scope lens and/or the tip of the scope and/or the cover of the scope. The cleaning device is adapted to clean the surgical instruments, especially the scope lens and/or said tip of the scope and/or the cover of said scope by wiping the surgical instrument over the cleaning device during a surgical procedure within the body cavity and/or within said abdominal cavity and/or within hollow body organs and/or within the natural/artificial orifices and/or within the spaces and/or to the post operative spaces. The cleaning device is a standalone cleaning device. The present invention also discloses a system for use during a surgical procedure. The system comprises: (a) at least one cleaning device; and (b) at least one introducer.
Abstract:
A surgical clip assembly which includes a pair of generally linear compression elements for securing tissue between them and for applying to the secured tissue a compression force. The clip assembly has an initial, open position in which the linear compression elements may be positioned about tissue to be secured between them. The assembly also has a final, closed position where the compression elements are substantially parallel to each other, applying a compressive force to the secured tissue. The clip assembly also includes a force means disposed between the pair of compression elements and operative to transmit operational forces between them.

Abstract:
A system including surgical compression clips is described and used for endoscopic full thickness resection. Similarly, methods for endoscopic full thickness resection using the described system are also discussed. Surgical compression clips using shape-memory elements are discussed. These clips are advanceable to the site of suspect tissue to be resected through a lumen of a multi-lumen sleeve encasing an endoscope. At the site of the tissue, the compression clip is opened and operated to circumscribe the suspect tissue. Grasper assemblies, advanceable through an endoscope, are also described. These latter grasp and bring the suspect tissue to the open clip. The clip is then closed and the tissue resected. The clip effects necrosis and healing at the resected site.

Abstract:
A device and method for creating a reduction in gastric volume by selective ablation of parts of the stomach wall. Unlike prior art methods, no attempt is made to keep the mucosa at the treated region intact, and the ablated region of the stomach is meant to be disfunctional after treatment. An inert sleeve, preferably an inflatable balloon, is positioned such that it lies along the lesser curvature wall of the stomach and preferably in contact therewith. The sleeve has at least one deployable protuberance, extending towards the greater curvature wall of the stomach wall. The protrusion is deployed only when the sleeve is in its predetermined position. This protrusion has ablation elements, such as RF electrodes, to ablate the stomach wall in proximity to the elements, without affecting the wall beneath the sleeve. After treatment, the ablated area undergoes necrosis and shrinks away, leaving the sleeved area intact.
