Abstract:
A surgical system (200) includes a port assembly (210) and an instrument arm assembly (230). The port assembly (210) has a first end section (212) and a second end section (214). The first end section (212) includes a first end channel (212a) and a first gate assembly (212b). The second end section (214) includes a second end channel (214a), a second gate assembly (214b) and an anchor port (216). The first and second gate assemblies (212b, 214b) could make the transition between an open position to allow the access through the first and second end channels (212a, 214a), respectively, and a closed position to prevent the access. The instrument arm assembly (230) includes a shoulder section (231) securable to the anchor port, a first arm section (233) secured to the shoulder section (231), an elbow section (234) secured to the first arm section (233), a second arm section (235) secured to the elbow section (234), a wrist section (236) secured to the second arm section (235) and an end effector section (238) secured to the wrist section (236). A port assembly for use in a surgical system and a method of configuring a surgical system are also provided.
Abstract:
A system for use in surgery includes a central body, a visualization system operably connected to the central body, a video rendering system, a head-mounted display for displaying images from the video rendering system, a sensor system, and a robotic device operably connected to the central body. The visualization system includes at least one camera and a pan system and/or a tilt system. The sensor system tracks the position and/or orientation in space of the head-mounted display relative to a reference point. The pan system and/or the tilt system are configured to adjust the field of view of the camera in response to information from the sensor system about changes in at least one of position and orientation in space of the head-mounted display relative to the reference point.
Abstract:
A surgical tool system includes a surgical tool shaft having a distal end and a proximal end. A plurality of surgical tool tips detachably connect to the distal end of the shaft. The surgical tool shaft includes a low power electrical interface, a high power electrical interface, and a mechanical interface.
Abstract:
The present invention is generally related to the art of minimally invasive surgery, and more specifically to reduced or single port laparoscopic surgery. This invention is a system of instruments that generally comprises of a surgical end effector, a receiver unit connected to the base of such an end effector, an external control link and an applicator for the control link. The entire system enables a surgeon at the time of his or her choosing, to externally control the end effector to manipulate organs, with minimal interference in the procedure at hand. In a preferred embodiment, the surgical end effector may be a mechanical atraumatic tissue grasping component enabling the retraction of internal organs.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are provided for providing suction and/or irrigation to locations within a body cavity In general, the methods and devices can allow instruments within a body cavity to be cleaned during a surgical procedure without having to remove the instruments from the body cavity In one embodiment, an end effector (10) is provided that includes an elongate body (12)having a cleaning base (40) formed thereon. The end effector can be configured as a modular element configured to be removably and replaceably attachable to a distal end of an elongate shaft (70) while being inside a cavity of a patients body. The cleaning base can have one or more ports (44) formed through a surface thereof. The cleaning base can be configured to provide suction and/or irrigation through the one or more ports to clean a face of a surgical instrument (150) seated in the cleaning base or in close proximity to the cleaning base.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Medical devices having a platform and an arm movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position. In some embodiments, the platform comprises at least one of a magnetically-attractive material and a material capable of being magnetically- charged. Methods of use.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a cleaning device and a method for cleaning surgical instruments, especially the scope lens and/or the tip of the scope and/or the cover of the scope. The cleaning device is adapted to clean the surgical instruments, especially the scope lens and/or said tip of the scope and/or the cover of said scope by wiping the surgical instrument over the cleaning device during a surgical procedure within the body cavity and/or within said abdominal cavity and/or within hollow body organs and/or within the natural/artificial orifices and/or within the spaces and/or to the post operative spaces. The cleaning device is a standalone cleaning device. The present invention also discloses a system for use during a surgical procedure. The system comprises: (a) at least one cleaning device; and (b) at least one introducer.
