Formula (I) is: wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 may be the same or may be different and are H, OH, a C 1 -C 20 alkyl group, or an oligomeric or polymeric system, whereby at least one of the set consisting of R 1 , R 3 , and R 5 is H. Formula (II) is: wherein R 6 is a C 1 -C 12 alkyl group, aryl group, aralkyl group or cycloalkyl group and wherein R 12 is H, a C 1 -C 12 alkyl group, aryl group, aralkyl group or cycloalkyl group. The invention further relates to use of the resin in adhesives, laminates, and coatings.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a coating having a low adherence towards different types of contaminants. Such a coating comprises a crosslinked polymeric network provided with a end-functionalized dangling chain, as a result of which the surface maintains its low surface energy.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for forming a cured, partially cured or uncured thermosetting material, comprising: an irradiation step wherein the thermosetting material is exposed to electromagnetic radiation which to a significant extent is within the neat-infrared range in such a way that the temperature of the irradiated thermosetting material is brought to between 40°C and 400°C, and a forming step wherein the irradiated thermosetting material is brought into a desired shape, whereby the forming step is executed during and/or subsequent to the irradiation step. The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the said process and to a thermosetting material.

Abstract:
Process for the preparation of a copolymer of maleic anhydride and an alkyl vinyl ether, comprising the steps of supplying maleic anhydride and the alkyl vinyl ether and an initiator, together forming a feed flow, through an inlet to a reactor wherein maleic anhydride and the alkyl vinyl ether react to a copolymer of maleic anhydride an alkyl vinyl ether thereby forming a reaction mixture with the maleic anhydride, the alkyl vinyl ether and the initiator characterized in that the process is a continuous process and the reactor is a loop reactor wherein the reaction mixture is internally circulated, whereby this reaction mixture arrives at the inlet before the maleic anhydride and alkyl vinyl ether have completely reacted while a remainder of initiator is still present. The invention further relates to copolymer of maleic anhydride and alkyl vinyl ether, including hydrolyzed or alcoholized copolymers, characterized in that a molecular weight distribution, expressed as Mw/Mn, is less than 2. The invention also relates to an apparatus for conducting the process of the invention.
