Abstract:
The present invention describes pesticidal beta-substituted nitrostyrene and cyanostyrene compounds having the formula I: wherein A,Ar,R,R1,Y,X,k,l, and m are as defined herein. The present invention is directed to compositions that include compounds of formula (I) and a carrier. Moreover, the present invention relates to methods for protecting crops from attack by nematodes by treating the crop with a pesticidally effective amount of the compound of formula (I). In addition, the present invention includes methods for controlling fungus and/or nematodes by treating the target species with a pesticidally effective amount of the compound of Formula (I).

Abstract:
Hot-rolled high-strength steel elongated structural members and method of making same are disclosed by hot-rolling high-strength steel having a specific chemical composition to provide structural units. The units are then welded together to provide structural members of desired geometrical configuration including a thin web with opposed thicker flanges extending therefrom to increase the load bearing capacity of the members.
Abstract:
An orthodontic appliance for correcting malocclusions including a device (10) having first and second operating components (16, 18), at least one of the operating components configured to be coupled to at least one tooth (22) of a patient. The operating components (16, 18) are coupled together in a manner allowing controlled movement of at least one of the operating components for purposes of correcting the malocclusion. A connector element includes an eyelet (30) coupled to at least one of the first or second operating components (16, 18), and an orthodontic screw (40) includes a threaded portion and a head (40a). The connector element (16) may be removed from the screw (40) while the threaded portion remains implanted in skeletal structure of a patient.
