Abstract:
A method of efficiently producing reduced coenzyme Q 10 having excellent qualities which is useful in foods, foods with nutrient function claims, foods for specific health uses, nutritional supplements, tonics, animal drugs, drinks, feeds, cosmetics, drugs, remedies, preventives and so on. This method is suitable for industrial production thereof. Namely, reduced coenzyme Q 10 can be handled in a state of being protected from oxidation due to molecular oxygen by bringing the coenzyme Q 10 into contact with a solvent containing a strong acid. By crystallizing in the presence of a strong acid, moreover, coenzyme Q 10 can be converted into crystals while minimizing the formation of the oxidized coenzyme Q 10 as a by−product, thereby giving reduced coenzyme Q 10 having excellent qualities.
Abstract:
It is intended to provide a method of stabilizing reduced coenzyme Q 10 which is useful in foods with nutrient function claims, foods for specific health uses and the like; a method of preserving the same; and so on. Moreover, a process whereby reduced coenzyme Q 10 with good qualities can be efficiently obtained by an industrially adequate method is provided. Reduced coenzyme Q 10 is brought into contact with ascorbic acid or its derivative or citric acid or its derivative to thereby give a stabilized composition in which the reduced coenzyme Q 10 can be handled as being protected from oxidation by molecular oxygen and which can be stored stably. Further, reduced coenzyme Q 10 is crystallized in the presence of ascorbic acid or its derivative, etc. Thus, it can be converted into crystals while minimizing the formation of oxidized coenzyme Q 10 as a by−product, thereby giving reduced coenzyme Q 10 with good qualities. Moreover, oxidized coenzyme Q 10 is converted into reduced coenzyme Q 10 by reducing with the use of ascorbic acid or its derivative and the thus formed reduced coenzyme Q 10 is subsequently crystallized in the presence of the ascorbic acid or its derivative so that reduced coenzyme Q 10 with good qualities can be produced by a simplified procedure within a shorter period.
Abstract:
An excellent method of crystallizing reduced coenzyme Q 10 which is suitable for industrial production thereof. According to a method of crystallizing reduced coenzyme Q 10 from an aqueous solution, in particular, a method wherein reduced coenzyme Q 10 is crystallized from an organic solvent solution containing the same through the replacement by water or a method wherein an oily reduced coenzyme Q 10 product is crystallized from an aqueous solution, the slurry properties or crystallization yield can be improved and thus reduced coenzyme Q 10 crystals having excellent qualities can be obtained.
Abstract:
A method of conveniently and efficiently producing reduced coenzyme Q 10 having excellent qualities which is useful in foods, foods with nutrient function claims, foods for specific health uses, nutritional supplements, tonics, animal drugs, drinks, feeds, cosmetics, drugs, remedies, preventives and so on. This method is suitable for industrial production thereof. An oily oxidized coenzyme Q 10 product is reacted with a reducing agent in water and the aqueous phase is separated from the thus obtained reaction mixture. Alternatively, an organic phase containing reduced coenzyme Q 10 is concentrated by distilling off the coexisting organic solvent at the melting point of the educed coenzyme Q 10 or higher. Thus, an oily coenzyme Q 10 product with excellent qualities having a low viscosity and favorable handling properties can be produced. Further, a desired solvent is added to the oily product thus obtained to give a solution or a slurry of the reduced coenzyme Q 10 . Alternatively, it is brought into contact with seed crystals to thereby give a solid reduced coenzyme Q 10 product.
