Abstract:
Illuminated signal devices and speed detectors for audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, an illuminated signal device configured for capturing image data is provided, the device comprising a camera having a field of view, a communication module, and a processing module operatively connected to the camera and the communication module, the processing module comprising a processor, and a signal device application, wherein the signal device application configures the processor to detect motion within the field of view of the camera, capture image data in response to the detected motion using the camera, and transmit the image data to a backend server using the communication module.
Abstract:
Some aspects of the present embodiments provide a method for transferring A/V recording and communication devices to other parties for installation at structures such as homes. The distributed and/or installed devices may be in a pre-activation mode with limited functionality. For example, a video doorbell device in pre-activation mode may have similar functionalities as a traditional doorbell, such as sounding a signaling device (e.g., a bell or buzzer), when a front button of the doorbell is pressed. The camera and/or the recording capabilities of the video doorbell, however, may be disabled in the pre-activation mode. The homeowner (or renter or other occupant) may subsequently desire to activate the A/V recording and communication device. During the activation process, the homeowner may be required to submit a payment for the A/V recording and communication device.
Abstract:
A wireless speaker device configured for use with a wireless A/V recording and communication device, such as a doorbell. The wireless speaker device may connect to the user's local area network (LAN), such as a Wi-Fi network. When the wireless A/V recording and communication device detects a visitor, it sends a signal, via the LAN, to a server. In response, the server sends a signal to the wireless speaker device. The signal to the wireless speaker device includes a command for the wireless speaker device to emit a tone through its speaker. The wireless speaker device then emits a tone through its speaker to alert the user that a visitor is at the wireless A/V recording and communication device. The wireless speaker device may further include a wireless repeater configured to receive a wireless signal from the one or more LAN devices and rebroadcast the wireless signal.
Abstract:
A communication device that may be removably coupled to a USB port, the device having a processor and non-volatile memory and configured to execute code, including code for receiving a wireless transmission including an alert signal from a second device, where the second device is a wireless doorbell, code for sounding an alarm via an audio or visual indicator on the communication device in response to the alert signal, code for receiving input from a user and transmitting a response signal to the second device, and code for allowing two-way audio communication between the communication device and the wireless doorbell.
Abstract:
Location-weighted remuneration for audio/video recording and communication devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, a method for transferring a location-weighted remuneration is provided, the method comprising: assigning an identifier to an owner of a first A/V recording and communication device, receiving a purchase order for a second A/V recording and communication device, wherein the purchase order includes the identifier assigned to the owner of the first A/V recording and communication device, determining a distance between locations of the first and second A/V recording and communication devices, determining an amount of remuneration, wherein the amount of remuneration is inversely proportional to the determined distance between the locations of the first and second A/V recording and communication devices, and transferring the determined amount of remuneration to the owner of the first A/V recording and communication device.
Abstract:
A method for protecting a parcel assembly from theft comprises assembling the parcel assembly by placing parcel contents within a container, and placing a self-addressed tracking device within the container. The self-addressed parcel tracking device comprises a housing; a wireless communication module located at least partially within the housing; a processing module located at least partially within the housing and communicatively coupled to the wireless communication module; a power source located at least partially within the housing and electrically coupled to the wireless communication module and the processing module; and a mailing address of an originator of a parcel. The mailing address is on an exterior surface of the housing, and configured to enable a recipient of the parcel to return the self-addressed tracking device to the originator of the parcel.

Abstract:
Some embodiments provide a novel method for harnessing the heat generated by one or more components (e.g., a set of IR LEDs) of an A/V recording and communication device in order to manage the temperature of one or more batteries of the A/V recording and communication device. Some aspects of the present embodiments raise the temperature of the battery in a cold weather without requiring any additional electrical power (e.g., without consuming any additional power for heating up the battery). In one aspect of the present embodiments, a thermally conductive sheet is coupled to a printed circuit board to which one or more IR LEDs are coupled. The thermally conductive sheet transfers the waste heat generated by the IR LEDs of the A/V recording and communication device to a rechargeable battery of the device.
Abstract:
Sharing video footage recorded by audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, such as video doorbells and security cameras. When an A/V recording and communication device records video footage of suspicious activity, or even criminal activity, a user viewing the footage may alert his or her neighbors by sharing the video. In various embodiments, the user may share the video with anyone of the user's choosing, including neighbors, friends, and family.
Abstract:
Audio/video recording and communication doorbells, comprising a housing and an image sensor or camera. The image sensor or camera may be located behind or integrated with an actuating button of the doorbell, and may serve the actuating function of the doorbell so that the doorbell does not require a discrete button separate from the image sensor or camera.
