    摘要: A metal face seal includes a seal ring (50, 70), the seal ring including an inner circumferential surface(58, 78), an outer circumferential surface (82), and a generally annular body (60, 80) extending between the inner and outer circumferential surfaces. An annular flange (53, 85) projects radially from the annular body to an outer perimeter of the flange and a sealing band (54, 74) is on the annular flange. A slot (62) may extend radially into the seal ring from the inner circumferential surface of the seal ring. A cooling channel (84) may be in and extend generally circumferentially through at least one of the annular body and annular flange.

    摘要: A method for laser cladding a material onto a surface of a machine component using a laser scanning head with laser scanning optics is disclosed. The method includes forming a molten bead of cladding material by directing a beam with the laser scanning optics over a bead scan on the machine component. The method also includes directing the beam with the laser scanning optics over a secondary scan on the machine component, the secondary scan being offset from the bead scan at a predetermined distance on the machine component.

The fabrication method may include generating a laser beam (30) at a first orientation relative to a wear surface (12) of the component to produce a first laser beam spot (32) having a first characteristic, and feeding a cladding material (34) into the first laser beam spot to produce a cladding layer (36) on the wear surface. The fabrication method may also include generating a laser beam (30) at a second orientation relative to the wear surface of the component to produce a second laser beam spot (32) having a second characteristic, and moving the second laser beam spot along the cladding layer to substantially flatten the cladding layer.

    摘要: A method for repairing a rotor wheel including an airfoil (46) using a blade repair assembly is disclosed. The blade repair assembly includes a first block (60) and a second block (70), each including a contact surface with a shape of at least a portion of the airfoil and a cavity surface (64;74) adjacent the contact surface. The method includes pre-machining an airfoil edge to a uniform height. The method also includes clamping the first block and the second block to the airfoil forming a cavity with the cavity surfaces and the airfoil edge. The method also includes filling the cavity with a metal including metallurgically bonding the metal to the airfoil.
