Abstract:
A method for operating a first device includes transmitting a conflict query frame including a first address field containing a first locally assigned identifier associated with the first device, wherein the conflict query frame further includes a second address field and has a structure of a first legacy frame, and determining if a conflict notification corresponding to the conflict query frame is received within a specified time interval after transmitting the conflict query frame. The method also includes discontinuing use of the first locally assigned identifier if the conflict notification is received within the specified time interval, and continuing use of the first locally assigned identifier if the conflict notification is not received within the specified time interval.
Abstract:
A method for securing communications between an access point and a station includes generating a first hashed service set identifier (SSID) by applying a first hash function to a first SSIO known by the station (block 811), transmitting a first message to the access point, wherein the first message includes the first hashed SSID (block 813), and receiving a second message from the access point, wherein the second message includes a second hashed SSID generated by the access point by applying a second hash function to a second SSID associated with the access point (block 815).
Abstract:
A method of broadcasting a first beacon by an access point of a communications system includes obtaining transmission times for second beacons broadcast by nearby access points (block 505), and adjusting a transmission time for the first beacon in accordance with the transmission times for the second beacons to group the first beacon and the second beacons together within a single channel (block 520). The method also includes broadcasting an indicator of the transmission time for the first beacon to stations operating in the communications system (block 525), and broadcasting the first beacon at the transmission time for the first beacon (block 540).
Abstract:
In a wireless local access network (WLAN), an access point (AP) broadcasts a beacon frame to a plurality of stations. The AP receives an indication frame from a station of the plurality of stations. The indication frame indicates that the station is available to receive a data packet for the station buffered at the AP. The AP indicates to the station a wakeup time for the station to wake up, and sends the data packet to the station at or after the wakeup time.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting to a direct mobile communications (DMC) device by a user equipment operating in both a cellular mode and a DMC mode includes estimating a first pathloss of a first channel from the user equipment to a base station according to a difference between a known base station transmit power level and a received base station power level, and estimating a second pathloss of a second channel from the user equipment to the DMC device according to a difference between a known DMC device transmit power level and a received DMC device power level. The method also includes setting a transmit power level for transmission to the DMC device according to the first pathloss and the second pathloss, and transmitting a signal to the DMC device at the transmit power level.
Abstract:
In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a method for providing wireless communication system includes receiving a reference signal from each base station of a plurality of base stations serving a mobile station. The received reference signals are measured to compute a single cell feedback matrix and a combining matrix for each channel between the plurality of base stations and the mobile station. A channel state information is generated having information about the combining and the single cell feedback matrices. The channel state information is transmitted to the plurality of base stations.
Abstract:
A method for employing six-bit rank 1 and 2 codebooks for four transmit antennas. A method for communications device operation includes: estimating a communications channel between the communications device and a controller serving the communications device, thereby producing a channel estimate, quantizing the channel estimate using a codebook, thereby producing a selected codeword, and transmitting an index corresponding to the selected codeword from the codebook to the controller. The codebook includes a plurality of first level codewords, with each first level codeword having a plurality of subsidiary codewords. The quantizing is a search of only the first level codewords followed by a search of a subset of the plurality of subsidiary codewords, and the codebook is based on a rank of communications between the communications device and the controller.
Abstract:
System and Method for Uplink Power Control in Multi-AP Coordination Embodiments compute a target power level referenced at one Access Point (AP) in accordance with path losses between two or more APs and a Station (STA). The calculated target power level is then transmitted to the STA in a downlink message, which may also include resource allocation information that indicates a location of a resource for transmitting an uplink frame. The STA may then use the target power level to calculate an uplink power level for transmitting the uplink frame over the resource location indicated by the downlink frame. In addition to the path loss values, the target power level may also be computed in accordance with measured interference levels at the APs and/or a target receive power level that is associated with, or otherwise required to decode, the uplink frame.
Abstract:
A method for operating a transmitting device includes generating a frame having at least a first preamble and a second preamble, and transmitting the first preamble in a first frequency resource and the second preamble in a second frequency resource, wherein the second frequency resource is smaller than the first frequency resource.
Abstract:
A method for operating a sharing station includes receiving, by the sharing station, a request to send (RTS) frame on a wireless channel, wherein the RTS frame is not addressed to the sharing station, and wherein the RTS frame including a transmit only indicator indicating that a transmitting station of the RTS frame will only transmit frames without receiving frames until expiration of a first time value in a first duration field of the RTS frame. The method also includes determining, by the sharing station, if a clear to send (CTS) frame corresponding to the RTS frame is received within a specified time period after receiving the RTS frame, and transmitting, by the sharing station, a frame when the CTS frame corresponding to the RTS frame is not received within the specified time period.
