Abstract:
This sintered body has a first material, a second material, and a third material. The first material is a cubic boron nitride. The second material is a compound including zirconium. The third material is an aluminum oxide which includes fine aluminum oxide. The sintered body has a first region in which the fine aluminum oxide is dispersed in an amount of 5% to 50% by volume in the second material. Along any straight line in the first region, an average value of a continuous distance occupied by the fine aluminum oxide is 0.08 μm or less, and a standard deviation of the continuous distance occupied by the fine aluminum oxide is 0.1 μm or less.
Abstract:
A composite sintered compact that contains cubic boron nitride particles and binder particles. The composite sintered compact contains 40-80 vol% inclusive of the cubic boron nitride particles. The binder particles contain TiCN particles. In an X-ray diffraction spectrum using Cu-Kα lines as a radiation source, the sintered compact shows a first peak assignable to the (200) face of the TiCN particles within a Bragg angle 2θ range of 41.7-42.6° inclusive. When diffraction intensity in the X-ray diffraction spectrum is set as a longitudinal axis (y) and the maximum value of the peak height of the first peak is referred to as (Imax), the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of Bragg angles 2θ at two or more intersection points of a line (y= Imax/2) and the first peak is not more than 0.4°.
