Abstract: The invention relates to a device comprising at least an electromagnetic actuator and a control unit, wherein the electromagnetic actuator comprises a moving part, a stationary part, and an electrically conducting coil for moving the moving part with respect to the stationary part, and wherein the control unit is embodied to regulate a voltage applied to the coil and to monitor the electrical current through the coil, characterized in that the device further comprises a diode connected to in parallel to the conducting coil, and in that the control unit is further embodied to simultaneously determine the resistance of the coil and the current-voltage characteristics of the diode via the application of a linear regression algorithm.

Abstract: The invention relates to device comprising at least an electromagnetic actuator (1) and a control unit (17), wherein the electromagnetic actuator (1) comprises a moving part (7), a stationary part (9), and an electrically conducting coil (11) for moving the moving part (7) with respect to the stationary part (9), and wherein the control unit (17) is embodied to regulate a voltage (u) applied to the coil and to sample the electrical current (i) through the coil (11), characterized in that the control unit (17) comprises a memory unit and is further embodied to store values corresponding to sampled measurements of the current (i) in the memory unit; to determine the change of the stored values over time; to compare the change of the stored values over time with a threshold value stored in the memory unit; and to determine on the basis of the comparison and on the basis of the applied voltage whether the moving part (7) is moving with respect to the stationary part (9) or is stationary with respect to the stationary part (7).

Abstract: The invention relates to a device comprising at least an electromagnetic actuator and a control unit, wherein the electromagnetic actuator comprises a moving part, a stationary part, and an electrically conducting coil for moving the moving part with respect to the conducting part, and wherein the control unit is embodied to regulate a voltage applied to the coil and to monitor the electrical current through the coil, wherein the device further comprises a low pass filter and the control unit is arranged to sample the current after it passes through the low pass filter and store measurement values corresponding to the sampled current, characterized in that the control unit is further embodied to determine extracted current values that correspond to the values of the current before the current passes through the low pass filter, wherein the control unit determines the extracted current values on the basis of the sampled current measurement values and on the basis of a mathematical model of the low pass filter.
