Abstract:
Meat processing equipment including: a first element (61) having a first face; a second element (63) having a second face. The first and second faces extend parallel to one another and define a common plane (65) between the first and second faces. The first and second elements (61, 63) are relatively movable with respect to one another. Yieldable arresting means (67, 71, 73) are included for yieldably arresting the first and second elements (61, 63) in at least one predetermined position of relative movement, wherein the yieldable arresting means include cooperating first and second permanent magnets (67, 71, 73), associated with at least one of the first and second elements (61, 63).
Abstract:
When stunning animals e.g. by CO 2 -stunning aversive reactions may be seen among the animals as a reaction to the high concentration of CO 2 . To avoid the aversive reactions animals can be pre-stunned before being final-stunned and perhaps killed or slaughtered when stunned. Pre-stunning of animals may be performed with a combination of gas for pre-stunning comprising at least air and/or O 2 together with CO 2 e.g. in a concentration below 40%, at least air and/or O2 together with N2O, or at least air and/or O 2 together with N 2 O and CO 2 , where CO 2 may bi in a concentration below 40%. For larger animals such as pigs pre-stunning is performed for less than 60 seconds. A stunning system may comprise means for pre-stunning of animals before performing a final-stunning and may include gas storage for re-use of the pre-stunning gas.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for damping swinging movements of a carcass (4) or a carcass part suspended from a conveyor (2), by the successive steps of: A) moving the carcass (4) or carcass part to at least one engaging element (8) lying in the transport path of the carcass (4) or carcass part, B) placing the carcass (4) or carcass part in contact with the engaging element (8), and C) causing the engaging element (8) to move aside to allow passage of the carcass or carcass part, wherein the engaging element (8) exerts a damping force on the swinging carcass or carcass part. The invention also relates to a device (3) for performing this method and an assembly of such a device and a conveyor (2) for carcasses or carcass parts.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement for automated handling of a carcass and parts separated therefrom in mechanically assisted cutting and boning. In mechanically assisted cutting and boning, a hook or similar must be applied manually into the part to be separated. According to the present invention, the hook application is located so as not to delay the operator performing the cutting and the boning. The arrangement comprises a conveyor line (5) for transport of the carcasses suspended from a first hook (2), from a preparatory work station to a work station for separation of a part (3) from the carcass. A second hook (4) is applied into said part (3) of the carcass at the preparatory work station and is transported to the work station together with the carcass (1).
Abstract:
The invention provides a plant for separating a part from a carcass comprising a main conveyor (1) for transporting the carcass (2) hanging in a first meat-hook (4) or the like on the main conveyor. According to the invention a separate work station (3) is arranged near the main conveyor (1) for separating and forwarding the separated part. The work station comprises a second meat-hook (5) or the like for attachment to the part to be separated and means (6, 6') for moving the second meat-hook. This movement may be determined arbitrarily either through a predetermined timing program controlling the moving means or directly by an operator.
Abstract:
A storage system at a freezing chamber for carcasses is arranged with storage racks (10) which can be served by a suspension track (42) extending from outside and into the freezing chamber. The storage rack has a pair of vertically spaced walls (11) from the facing sides of which horizontal support ledges (12) are formed on different storage levels. In the storage rack the carcasses are displaceably suspended on elongate storage members (20) which are in turn displaceably laid on the support ledges (12) on a desired storage level. Each storage member (20) is provided with a suspension track section (22) for the carcasses. The suspension track (42) is at the storage rack terminated in a position which can be entered by the suspension track section (22) of each storage member (20), for a displaceable transfer of the hanging carcasses from the suspension track (42) to the storage rack (10) and vice versa.
Abstract:
A plant for handling live poultry in a slaughterhouse, wherein the poultry is sent to the slaughterhouse inside transport units (1) that include two piles set side by side of drawer-type cages (2) arranged on top of one another carried by supporting frames (10) in such a way that they can be slid in and slid out. The plant comprises an input station (3) for input of the transport units (1) where all the drawer- type cages (2) arranged on top of one another of both of the piles are simultaneously extracted each supporting frame (10).

Abstract:
A method of cooling a dressed carcass of a slaughtered animal halved along the backbone thereof while transferring the dressed carcass in a cooling chamber is provided, with which reduction in process yield in the cooling process due to evaporation of water from the dressed carcass is suppressed to a minimum, meat juice dripping together with water does not occur when cutting the dressed carcass, the cooling period of time is reduced, energy is saved in cooling process, initial cost is reduced, and productivity is improved. The dressed carcass is cooled while transferring in the cooling chamber in a hanged attitude along the transport route T, whereby a plurality of partitioned spaces are provided in the cooling chamber1 such that they are arranged along said transport route with a relatively small distance between them in a zone where the surface of the dressed carcass is cooled quickly and with a relatively large distance between them in a zone where surface temperature of the dressed carcass has approached the temperature of the cooling chamber and the dressed carcass is cooled slowly, and water is added to the surface of the dressed carcass while blasting cold air on to the dressed carcass in the partitioned spaces.
