Abstract:
This invention provides compositions, systems and methods that improve and/or optimize the health and performance of animals, especially mammals including humans, canines, equines, felines, etc. Key aspects of the principle invention and its parts include the monitoring, management and modulation of the body's natural cannabinoid systems through its native mechanisms thereby optimizing its processes by supplementation with endogenously occurring components and/or by administering synthetic compounds. The invention selects from multiple available resources to modify and/or rebalance an individual system or it may be applied across interconnected systems. The encompassing system that is intricately involved in the operations and intensities, e.g., the balancing of most other systems of our bodies, relates to cannabinoid compounds and their receptors. The cannabinoid pathways can be coordinated in rebalancing multiple and various metabolic pathways.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a method of treating weight loss in one or more companion animals or livestock. The method can provide administering a therapeutically effective amount of a capromorelin-containing composition to a companion animal or livestock in need thereof for a period of at least 30 days. Optionally, one or more flavoring agents or flavor-masking agents can be added to the capromorelin-containing composition to enhance or mask the flavoring of the composition for the companion animal or livestock.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to means and methods for enhancing intestinal function in poultry, leading to an increase in food conversion ratio and in total weight gain. Particularly, the present invention relates to insulin-containing feed formulations enhancing intestinal function and weight gain in poultry.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for influencing the sex of a fish or mollusc. According to the invention, this influencing is achieved by administering a phytoestrogen to the fish or the mollusc. The invention also relates to a composition for carrying out the method and to a method for recovering a phytoestrogen for carrying out the method.
Abstract:
An adsorbent is provided by performing freezing treatment after covering an adsorbent body such as activated charcoal with a gel-like substance such as bivalent metallic salts of high molecular polycarboxylic acid, bean curd, jelly, konnyaku, agar, perilla, gelidium jelly and chitosan oxalate gel, or removing a frost damage preventive substance such as glycerol after covering the adsorbent body with the above gel-like substance which contains the frost damage preventive substance. The adsorbent is made to contact directly with food and the like or dosed directly to a digestive system, whereby it is possible to highly efficiently adsorb and remove food additives, fodder additives, pesticides, substances causing sitotoxism, allergen, heavy metals or highly toxic organic compounds and the like which adhere to or are contained in food and the like or which are existent in a digestive system, surplus nutrients existent in a digestive system, oligomer and additives contained in liquors, intermediate metabolic substances of alcohol generated in a digestive system after taking of spirits, harmful substances such as hydroperoxide of unsaturated fatty acid in fats and oils, and odor ingredient such as fish odor.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a recombinant stable polypeptide comprising in its polypeptide chain an amino acid sequence contained in one of the following amino sequences: from amino acid (-20) to amino acid (187) represented in Fig. 2, from amino acid (1) to amino acid (187) represented in Fig. 2, from amino acid (1) to amino acid (187) represented in Fig. 2, preceded by Met.
Abstract:
The body composition of poultry is improved by a hormonal strategy that involves either (1) increasing plasma levels of thyroid hormone by about 2- to 3-fold during the finishing phase (e.g., for chickens, 3 to 6 or 7 weeks-of-age) by providing feed containing 0.1 to 1 ppm of metabolically-active thyroid hormone of formula (I), wherein R1 is the residue of a carboxylic acid such as an alpha-amino acid or an aliphatic carboxylic acid, e.g. L-alanine, D-alanine, acetic acid, or propionic acid, R3 is iodine (I), R5 is iodine (I) or hydrogen (H), R3' is iodine (I) or the residue of an aliphatic carboxylic acid such as butyric acid, or propionic acid, R5' is iodine (I) or hydrogen (H), R4' is hydroxy (OH), (2) increasing plasma levels of metabolically-active thyroid hormone by 2- to 3-fold and increasing plasma levels of growth hormone or glucagon by 2- to 10-fold for 15 to 30% of each day with any suitable method during the finishing phase of poultry growth. Marked depletion of body fat and increased body protein content are obtained with minimal loss of growth rate or efficiency of feed conversion.
