    摘要: There is provided a method of treating a weaning piglet with a cortisol agonist where the method includes administering a dose of the cortisol agonist to the weaning piglet, in a therapeutically effective amount, to cause an increase in body mass as compared to a like weaning but untreated piglet. The cortisol agonist may be dexamethasone. Further, the dose may range from about 0.1 mg/kg body mass to about 1.0 mg/kg of body mass, administered via intra-muscular injection. In a particular exemplary embodiment, the method includes administering a dose of 0.2 mg/kg body mass via intra-muscular injection. The method may include administering a first dose before weaning, and administering a second dose after weaning. Further, the first dose may be administered a day before commencing weaning, and the second dose 3 days after weaning has commenced.

    摘要: Atopic dermatitis and pruritus can be efficaciously treated in non-human animals by administering fexofenadine. In a first aspect, the present invention provides a method for treating AD or pruritus, said method comprising orally administering to a non-human patient in need of treatment a therapeutically effective dose of fexofenadine at a dose of at least 20 mg/kg by weight per day. In some instances the present invention provides a method for treating AD in a canine or feline, said method comprising orally administering a therapeutically effective dose of fexofenadine at a dose of at least 20 mg/kg by weight per day. In many embodiments, treatment will continue on a consecutive daily basis for many weeks, if not for the rest of the animal's life.

    摘要: This invention is in the field of animal feed, more in particular in the field of fish feed. Surprisingly, it has been found that the seasonal mobility period of fish may be lengthened by interfering with the diet of the fish. We found that it is possible to increase the seasonal mobility period of fish to such an extent that it is even active at temperatures as low as 2 degrees Celsius. Such may be accomplished by adding naturally occurring substances to the feed of the fish. Examples of these naturally occurring substances are immune enhancing ingredients like beta-glucans and/or small amounts of phytohormones like auxin or gibberellic acid. Also, combinations of these substances, in particular the combination of beta-glucans and phytohormones, were shown to have a synergistic effect in that they lengthened the seasonal mobility period of the fish more than the individual components on their own.
