Abstract:
An attachment for a beverage container may comprise a cap configured to attach to an opening in the beverage container. The cap comprises an opening. The attachment also comprises a tube passing through the cap. The opening in the cap is located proximate to a first end of the tube and a second end of the tube is configured to be located within the beverage container when the cap is attached to the beverage container, such that a beverage contained in the beverage container can flow through the tube and out of the opening in the cap. The attachment also comprises a container attached to the tube and configured to hold a liquid. The container comprises an opening to allow the liquid to flow from the container into the tube and out of the opening in the cap. The attachment also comprises a restrictor between the opening of the container and the tube to control and/or restrict the flow of the liquid from the container into the tube. The restrictor and the tube are configured such that the liquid begins to exit the opening in the cap before the beverage begins to exit the opening in the cap.
Abstract:

The device includes a body (12, 16) including a cavity (9) that extends from a bottom surface (17) of the body (12, 16) to an upper surface (22) of the body (12, 16) and a lid (10, 14) positionable between a closed position in which the lid (10, 14) lays on an upper surface (22) of the body (12, 16) and an open position in which the lid (10, 14) is displaced from the upper surface (22) of the body (12, 16). The device also includes a tube (62), a straw (18) and a mouthpiece (20, 22, 40). The mouthpiece (20, 22, 40) coupled to the body (12, 16) and in fluid communication with the tube (62), the mouthpiece (20, 22, 40) being positionable between a closed position in which the mouthpiece (20, 22, 40) crimps the tube (62) to the bottom surface (17) of the body (12, 16) and an open position in which the tube (62) couples the mouthpiece (20, 22, 40) in fluid communication with the straw (18).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A cup for a patient suffering from dysphagia comprises a base upon which the cup is capable of standing when on a level surface and a leading wall extending from the base. The leading wall has a first portion that is substantially planar or concave when viewed from outside the cup, the first portion being at an angle of at least 100 degrees relative to the base. The cup also comprises a trailing wall opposite the leading wall, wherein the trailing wall extends from the base to the lip of the cup; and side walls extending between the leading and trailing walls, the side walls being convex when viewed from outside of the cup. The lip of the cup is upwardly inclined relative to the base in the direction of the trailing wall to the leading wall. The cup allows a patient suffering from dysphagia to drink without having to unduly tip back his or her head.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a duckbill valve arrangement (10) for a beverage dispensing container (70). The arrangement (10) comprises a tube (11) comprising a resilient tube wall (12) having an outer surface (15) and defining an internal passageway (13). The arrangement (10) further comprises a duckbill valve (30) mounted within the passageway (13). The duckbill valve (30) comprises a resiliently closable valve mouth (41) arranged to be opened upon compression of the tube (11). At least one groove (20, 21) extends along the outer surface (15) of the tube wall (12) for reducing the force required to compress the tube (11) and open the duckbill valve (30).
Abstract:
An infant cup includes a container, a lid removably coupled to the container and having an opening, and an insert removably coupled to the lid. The insert is capable of providing various types of fluid flow outlets that control the amount of fluid that flow out of the infant cup. At least two types of outlets are disposed on the insert. Furthermore, the insert is capable of being repositioned with respect to the lid so the desired outlet is used on the infant cup. Each outlet may be designed to be used by children of certain ages, allowing continuing use of the infant cup as the child grows. Finally, the container of the cup may include an insulation layer and the lid may include a cover to sealingly engage the outlet on the insert.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A hydration system (2) for providing fluid to a subject is provided, the system comprising a flexible tube (8) for extending between a reservoir of a liquid and the mouth of the subject and having a first end (10) for immersion in the reservoir of liquid and a second end (12); a holder releasably attached to a portion of the tube (18) between the first (10) and second (12) ends of the tube; and a mouthpiece (14) connected to the second end (12) of the tube (18) and arranged to be held in the mouth of the subject when the subject is receiving liquid from the reservoir through the tube (8). Abstract:
The invention is a modular drinking bottle having two cylindrical containers held together along a common axis by a connector. The connector may have a valve that allows or prevents fluid from flowing from one container to the other. Thus for instance powdered baby formula may be held in one cylinder, water in the other, and the two may be mixed on demand. Or, two different liquids such as juice and water may be held separately in the device, which when connected takes the form of a long tube. Since the two cylinders making up the device may be disconnected, all the parts may be washed, including inner surfaces.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for hiccup relief. The present invention provides a hiccup relief device having a main body having a substantially uniform longitudinal shape and a tab disposed on the main body, wherein the tab extends away from the body. The present invention also provides a hiccup relief method including: obtaining a hiccup relief device having a disrupting portion; positioning the hiccup relief device in a mouth of a user; and, delivering a consumable liquid over the hiccup relief device, wherein the disrupting portion disrupts a flow of liquid over the hiccup relief device.
