Abstract:
A personal care device (10) including an oscillating brush head (16) comprising a plurality of curved bristles (18b), each of the plurality of curved bristles comprising a tip (20) and further comprising a base (19) affixed to the brush head, wherein the tips of the curved bristles are positioned at an angle relative to the base of the curved bristles; and a body portion (12) in communication with the brush head and comprising a drivetrain mechanism configured to oscillate the brush head at a first frequency during use of the personal care device; where oscillation of the brush head at the first frequency oscillates the bristles and causes the tips of the bristles to brush the teeth and/or gums to remove biofilm, and wherein the oscillating bristles are capable of cleaning teeth surfaces, interproximal areas, and a gum line.
Abstract:
An oral care product array includes a handle component and multiple refill components therefor. The handle component includes a power source. A first refill component includes a first light generating module which emits light in a first spectrum from the first refill component. A second refill component includes a second light generating module which emits light in a second spectrum from the second refill component. Each refill component has a coupled state, when coupled to the handle component, and a decoupled state, when decoupled from the handle component. When the first refill component is in the coupled state, the first light generating module is powered by the power source to emit light in the first spectrum. When the second refill component is in the coupled state, the second light generating module is powered by the power source to emit light in the second spectrum.
Abstract:
An oral care implement having an arrangement of tooth cleaning elements thereon. The oral care implement may include a head extending from a proximal end to a distal end and comprising first and second peripheral sides. A plurality of tooth cleaning elements extend from the head and are arranged in groups including a first peripheral grouping of tooth cleaning elements positioned adjacent the first peripheral side of the head and having first and second types of tooth cleaning elements, a distal grouping of tooth cleaning elements positioned adjacent the distal end of the head and having a third type of tooth cleaning element, and a proximal grouping of tooth cleaning elements positioned adjacent the proximal end of the head and having the third type of tooth cleaning element. The first, second, and third types of tooth cleaning elements are different in at least one more structural characteristics.
Abstract:
An electric toothbrush that detects plaque on the teeth, ensures accurate plaque detection, and performs cleaning of plaque. The electric toothbrush may include a body having a gripping part and a stem with a brush unit detachably coupled to the body. The electric toothbrush may include a light emitting element for emitting light onto the tooth and a light receiving element for receiving light that reflects off of the tooth. A controller may be included to determine an amount of plaque on the tooth based on the amount of reflected light detected. The electric toothbrush may also include a fluid dispensing system that dispenses fluid based on the amount of reflected light detected. In some aspects, the electric toothbrush may operate in multiple oscillation modes, and it may only dispense fluid in some of the modes but not all of the modes.
Abstract:
A powered dental and interdental cleaning apparatus may include a body (701), an interdental cleaning member (735), and a drive member (707). The drive member (707) may extend from the body at an angle to a longitudinal axis of the body (701). The drive member (707) may be connected to the interdental cleaning member. A neck (721) may extend from the body (701) and define a drive member shaft for containing and supporting the drive member (707).

Abstract:
A spring mechanism for attaching to a power device drive unit includes a housing connectable to a portion of the power device and a shaft extending through the housing. One end of the shaft is coupled to a workpiece and a bottom member extends from the other end and is positioned adjacent the drive unit. The bottom member includes at least one of a ferromagnetic material and a permanent magnet. The bottom member, shaft and workpiece move upon actuation of the drive unit, and a spring extends laterally outwardly from the shaft between the shaft and the housing. The spring is affixed to one of the shaft and the housing, wherein the spring bends between a deformed position and a return position upon the movement of the bottom member.
Abstract:
An attachment 10 mountable to an electric toothbrush handle 62 having a drive shaft 60 comprises a neck member 16 having an elongated body 40 with a principal axis 42 and a cavity 44; a slide member 12 with an engagement surface 22; a guide sleeve member 14 having a cavity 84, a first outer surface 88 with an engagement opening 90, and a transition surface 92; and a collar member 18. The guide sleeve member, with slide member moveably inserted within the engagement opening, is moveably inserted within the neck member cavity. Insertion of the drive shaft into cavities of the collar member and guide sleeve member from (a) a first radial position along an axis offset and parallel to the principal axis to (b) a second radial position in-line with the principal axis, via the transition surface, results in the drive shaft being held in frictional contact with the engagement surface of the slide member to enable reliable transfer of force/motion from the drive shaft to the neck member.
Abstract:
