Abstract:
An absorbent core (28) for absorbent articles (20) such as diapers comprising a core wrap (16, 16') comprising a top side (288) and a bottom side (290), an absorbent material (60) between the top side and the bottom side of the core wrap, a first and second longitudinally-extending channel-forming areas (26a, b) substantially free of absorbent material preferably through which the top side of the core wrap is attached to the bottom side of the core wrap disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis (80). The core has a central absorbent zone (62) between the first and the second channel-forming areas and a first and second lateral absorbent zones (61, 63) disposed laterally outwardly. The absorbent core comprises at least one transversal folding line (66, 66'), preferably at least two transversal folding lines, in the region where the longitudinally-extending channel-forming areas are present.
Abstract:
A dual-mode high-waist disposable absorbent pant with foldover waist features is disclosed. The pant may include a laterally extending folding region disposed longitudinally between the waist opening edge and the front and/or rear ends of an absorbent core structure; the folding region may include a first web structure. The pant may also include a waistband region disposed longitudinally between the waist opening edge and the folding region; the waistband region may include a second web structure and one or a plurality of laterally extending, pre-strained elastic member(s) disposed between a first pair of layers. The second web structure may differ in configuration from the first web structure. The longitudinal dimension between the waist opening edge of the pant and the leg opening edges may be at least 30 percent of the overall length of the pant when in an open, fully extended and flattened condition.
Abstract:
A disposable absorbent pant having a belt structure that encircles the wearer's waist, with front and rear belt portions, and a longitudinally channeled absorbent core structure, is disclosed. The channels are extended so as to underlie at least one of the front and rear belt portions, thereby providing added structural support to restrain the absorbent core and reduce the likelihood of undesirable bulging in the front and/or rear of the pant while it is worn, after the core has absorbed liquid and stiffened longitudinally as a result of the channeled structure.
Abstract:
An absorbent article 20 for personal hygiene comprises a liquid permeable topsheet 24, a liquid impermeable backsheet 25, and an absorbent core 28 between the topsheet 24 and backsheet 25. The absorbent core 28 comprises a core wrap enclosing an absorbent material 60. The absorbent material 60 comprises a superabsorbent polymer. The core wrap comprises a top side 16 facing the topsheet 24 and a bottom side 16' facing the backsheet 25. The absorbent core 28 comprises one or more substantially absorbent material free area(s) 26 through which a portion of the top side 16 of the core wrap is attached by one or more core wrap bond(s) 27 to a portion of the bottom side 16' of the core wrap. The top side 16 of the core wrap is at least colored in the portion of the top side 16 of the core wrap which is attached by one or more core wrap bond(s) 27 to the portion of the bottom side 16' of the core wrap so that the color of the top side 16 of the core wrap forms one or more colored area(s) 126 visible from the exterior of the absorbent article 20. When the absorbent material 60 swells, one or more core wrap bond(s) 27 at least partially open(s) so that the colored area(s) 126 becomes no longer or less visible from the exterior of the absorbent article 20.
Abstract:
An absorbent core composite is disclosed for incorporation into a disposable absorbent article. The composite includes a first material layer and a second material layer (preferably nonwoven) partially secured to the first material layer to define at least one pocket therebetween. Preferably, multiple pockets are defined, except in the case of where a generally uniform layer or bed of absorbent is preferred or better suited fro the application. The pocket is said have a fixed initial volume. Further, an aggregate of absorbent particles is provided in the pocket(s) to occupy a portion of the fixed initial volume. The absorbent particles are preferably SAP particles and is characterized by a dry volume associated with a dry state and a swell volume associated with a liquid saturation state. In respect to or for the pocket, the aggregate is characterized by a collective dry volume and a collective swell volume, wherein the pocket has an initial configuration that retains the aggregate therein.
Abstract:
An absorbent article (20) for personal hygiene such as a diaper or training pant, the absorbent article having a front edge (10) and a back edge (12), a longitudinal axis (80) extending in a longitudinal direction of the article, the article having a length L as measured along the longitudinal axis from the front edge to the back edge, a crotch point (C) defined as the point placed at a distance of two fifth of L from the front edge of the article on the longitudinal axis. The article comprises a pair of leg cuffs (32) with an raised section (34) and an absorbent core (28) comprising at least one channel (26, 26') at least partially oriented in the longitudinal direction (80) of the article. The article has crotch width (Wd) before use as measured between the proximal edges of the leg cuffs at the level of the crotch point of from to 70 mm to 200 mm, and a Relative Crotch Width Reduction (RCWR) of at least 30 mm/kg.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed, in part, to an absorbent article that comprises an absorbent core disposed at least partially intermediate a topsheet and a backsheet and a core wrap enclosing an absorbent material. The core wrap comprises a first material and a second material. The first material forms a C-wrap at least partially around the second material. The absorbent material comprises at least 80% of superabsorbent polymers by weight of the absorbent material. The absorbent core comprises a channel substantially free of the superabsorbent polymers, at least partially oriented in a longitudinal direction of the article, and comprising an arcuate portion. The channel has lateral widths taken parallel to a lateral axis of the article. The profile of the lateral widths of the channel over a longitudinal length of at least 50mm of the channel taken along the longitudinal axis is substantially constant.
Abstract:
The present invention is an absorbent article comprising at least one predominantly cross-directionally extending discontinuity, such as a slit, by which the absorbent core of the structure is adapted to form a z- and y- directionally opened passageway.
