The present invention is a mobile hyperbaric unit including a vehicle having a vehicle chassis with a front cabin and a rear bed. A partition can extend upwardly from the rear bed at a position next to the cabin. A pod can be removably attachable to the vehicle chassis, the pod having top wall, left and right side walls, a front wall, a rear wall, and a bottom wall that is sized and shaped to occupy and rest upon the rear bed. A detachable connection can enable attachment or detachment of the pod from the vehicle chassis, the connection can be connected to the pod at the bottom wall. The partition can have a portion that extends at least partially over the pod top wall. A pod chassis enables the pod to be transported independently of the vehicle chassis, the pod chassis can have a lift that enables elevation of the pod between lower and upper positions. A control station that has ambient pressure can be located in between the partition and the pod. A desired pressure that is not ambient pressure can be maintained within said pod interior by means on the vehicle.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for assisting the transfer of a physically-disabled person into or out of an amusement ride. The apparatus and method involve a base portion having an elevated seat and an associated extension. The base portion is mobile and can be positioned adjacent the amusement ride. The extension is then positioned within the amusement ride to provide a smooth platform that permits the passenger to slide from the elevated seat, down the extension and into an open seat in the amusement ride. The process is reversed to permit the passenger egress from the amusement ride. The base portion also includes at least one wheel assembly and feet upon which the base portion rests during use. When necessary to move the base portion, it is tilted onto the wheel assembly from the feet for quick and easy transport. The elevated seat and extension are covered with a comfortable material.

A method for the transfer of people on wheel-chair on/from public transport means provides for the use of an electric vehicle for transporting people on wheel-chair to enable people on wheel-chairs to get on/off public transport means Independently and automatically. The above-mentioned method, using a special electric vehicle with a liftable supporting board, makes it unnecessary to install any lifting device on board the transport means.

The lift platform (140) may be surrounded on all sides by vertically extending walls (112) and one or more doors (110) to provide access to the lift platform (140). A drive assembly (100) for a wheelchair lift is provided. The drive assembly (100) includes an actuating assembly (104) in communication with a component of the wheelchair lift. The actuating assembly (104) is configured to selectively apply a driving force to move the component between at least first and second positions. The drive assembly (100) also includes an overload assembly (102) coupled to the actuating assembly (104). The overload assembly (102) is configured to redirect application of the driving force from the component to the overload assembly (1.02) when a force applied to the component exceeds a predetermined limit.

A lift mechanism for a chair device, such as a wheelchair (12), that is intended to engaged the frame of the wheelchair (12) and lift and lower the wheelchair (12) between a ground engaging position and an elevated position. The lift mechanism (242) includes a lift arm having one end secured within and moveable with respect to a vehicle (244). The lift arm (246) has another end which can extend outwardly of the vehicle to engage the chair device. The lift arm (246) has a lift plate disposed adjacent the other end of the lift arm, which is intended to mate with or couple the frame of the wheelchair (12). The lift arm (246) is in communication with an actuator which controls the movement of the lift arm (246) between the ground engaging position and the elevated position. The lift mechanism utilizes a universal coupling system to effectuate elevation in vehicular transportation or architectural setting.

The invention provides a stairlift device which comprises passenger carrying means, substantially linear guide means, transporting means, and attachment means, said attachment means being adapted to enable the guide means to be attached to a section of a vehicle, thereby allowing for operation of the stairlift device whilst in attachment to the vehicle, the passenger carrying means being movable along the guide means by the transporting means when the device is in operation. Typically, the passenger carrying means comprises a chair (2) and the guide means comprises a guide rail (3) and the two are connected by way of mounting means. The mounting means may be integral with the transporting means, which preferably comprises an electric motor, and located behind a housing (4). The attachment means conveniently takes the form of a bracket (5) or the like which is adapted for attachment to a vehicle (1).

The deck is attached to the frame and sized to receive a wheelchair. The one or more handrails are attached to at least one of the frame and the deck. The system includes an upright lifting component case. The frame of the platform is substantially perpendicular to the upright lifting component case. The system includes lifting components that are at least partially disposed in the upright lifting component case and attached to the platform. The lifting components are operable to vertically move the frame between a top and a bottom of the upright lifting component case. The system includes an electrical power source operable to provide electrical power to at least a portion of the lifting components.
