Abstract:
A system for treating and maintaining bodies of water for low density recreational use is disclosed. A system of the invention generally includes containing means, coordination means, chemical application means, non-intrusive mobile suction means, and filtration means. The coordinating means can receive information regarding controlled water quality parameters, and can timely activate the processes necessary to adjust the water quality parameters within their respective limits. The disclosed system filters only a small fraction of the total water volume, up to 200 times less per day than the flow filtered by conventional swimming pool filtration systems. The disclosed methods and system also use less chemicals than conventional swimming pool water treatment systems. The system of the present invention can be used to treat recreational water bodies and provide sustainable methods for producing water that meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for recreational water, for bathing with full body contact.
Abstract:
An automated self-propelled pool cleaner having a housing, a water pump for moving water through the housing, drive means for moving the pool cleaner over the surface of the salt water pool to be cleaned, and an integral electrochemical chlorine generator mounted in the housing, includes a processor/controller that is programmed to activate the chlorine generator, the pump and drive means in predetermined operational sequences that minimize wear and tear on the water pump and drive means, while at the same time distribute and maintain a safe level of sanitizing chlorine in the pool, to thereby obviate the need for an in-line chlorinator or other chemical additive treatments; an optional automated sensor device can be provided to activate a secondary maintenance program which enables the pool cleaner to operate over prolonged periods of time as the sole means for filtering and sanitizing the pool water. An electrochemical cell manual mounting system permits the cell to be secured in place for operation and manually removed for maintenance, repair or replacement by the user without special tools or training.
Abstract:
A skimmer for collecting surface debris from a surface of water in a swimming pool includes a trap operable to be positioned at the surface of water in the swimming pool and having an inlet for receiving water from the swimming pool and an outlet connectable to a suction device. The invention extends to a skimmer and chemical dispenser combination and to a method for collecting debris from a surface of a swimming pool.
Abstract:
A system, a device and a method for maintaining water quality in a pool or similar water container for use by people which is characterized in that a pressure sensor is arranged to sense the pressure variations inside a main water container 1 and to provide a pressure variation signal to a control and processing unit 3. The control and processing unit is connected with a dispensing module and is adapted to generate and transfer control signals to said dispensing modules. The control signal depends on the detected pressure variation signal. The system for water treatment comprises also a water treatment circulation loop 3 A-D at least one controllable chemical dispensing module 8 A-D ,9 A-D . The circulation loop is adapted to pump water from the main water container 1, around the circulation loop 3 A-D , and back into the main water container 1 via the dispensing module for dispensing a chemical treatment agent.
Abstract:
A dispenser for granulated chemicals consists of a flow passage in communication with a venting chamber and a mixing chamber along the flow passage with the chambers connected together and the mixing chamber connected to the outlet of a measuring container having an inlet for connection to a supply of granulated chemical, the container incorporating valves ganged together to cause simultaneous closing of the inlet and opening of the outlet of the container on flow through the conduit and cessation or flow respectively, flow through the chambers being induced by formation of a low pressure zone at the outlet from the mixing chamber into the conduit. The chambers may be arranged concentrically.
Abstract:
A water treatment apparatus for treating water with a solid treatment chemical that treats the water on an intermittent schedule is provided. Also provided is a cartridge containing a solid water treatment chemical which may be placed into the water treatment apparatus.
Abstract:
A water quality management system for a water installation containing water. In some embodiments, the system includes a water quality measurement module adapted to monitor the water quality of the water in the water installation and to send water quality information to a controller; a chemical dispensing module adapted to dispense chemicals directly into the water installation in response to signals from the controller; and a communication mechanism configured to provide communication among the controller, the water quality measurement module, the chemical dispensing module and a user.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for combined controlling chlorinators and pumps for pools and spas are provided. Exemplary embodiments can include a pump operable to circulate a fluid for a specified time period according to a pump operation time setting and a chlorinator operatively coupled to the pump. The chlorinator can be configured to generate chlorine based on a chlorine output setting, a chlorine generation capacity of the chlorinator, and the pump operation time. A controller can be operatively coupled to the chlorinator and the pump and can be programmed to control the chlorinator and the pump based on a relationship between the chlorine output setting, a chlorine generation capacity of the chlorinator, and the pump operation time.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cleaning apparatus (1), which handles water treatment and cleaning of the water (W) in a swimming pool (3) and can incorporate additional special equipment such as a camera (32) and microphone (32a) for more efficient control of the circulation pump (10), and which is compactly mounted on the pool edge (2) and is watertightly fully or partially submerged, and via the maintenance flap the inner holder (15) carrying the components requiring maintenance can be brought out and thus the containers (18) can be replaced or they are stored in the building (40) and are carried to the cleaning apparatus (1) by the metering tube (37), the metering pump (16a) being in the cleaning part (6) or in the buliding (40) also with a non-return valve (38) on the inoculating station (39). A recess (M) allows the cleaning apparatus to be held flush against the side wall (2a). An optional docking station (44) for a pool robot (45) makes cleaning easier.
