The present subject matter relates to orthopedic splinting materials and methods for stabilizing an injured limb or extremity of a human or animal comprising applying a foam to the limb or extremity and allowing the foam set to sufficient rigidity In some embodiments, the foam is sprayed directly on the skin and does not produce an amount of heat release that is painful or uncomfortable on the skin In certain embodiments, the foam sets to sufficient ngidity in less than 60 seconds In a specific embodiment, the foam is a Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) that sets in less than 60 seconds and does not produce an amount of heat release that is painful or uncomfortable on the skin Also provided is a kit for stabilizing an injured limb or extremity compπsing a dispenser comprising a foamable composition of the present subject matter

The present invention relates to a spacer fabric having cushioning properties comprising a first outer layer, a second outer layer, and an intermediate spacer layer integrated with said first and second outer layer. The invention is new and characterised in that at least part of one of the outer layers comprises hybride yarns, said hybrid yarns comprising at least one type of thermoplastic melting fibre and at least one type of structural fibre. Said fibres having different temperature profiles, wherein the thermoplastic fibre is adapted to melt, wet out and stiffen the fabric structure at a temperature at which the structural fibre remains substantially unaffected, and subsequently be moulded or in other ways shaped.

O presente privilégio de invenção refere-se a um inovador material termoplástico para uso veterinário como imobilizador ortopédico, que consiste na combinação de materiais têxteis especialmente tratados com estrutura polimérica de baixo ponto de fusão, termicamente autocolante, de fácil moldagem que proporciona estabilização das áreas imobilizadas após seu resfriamento. O objetivo do presente privilégio de invenção refere-se a um inovador material termoplástico para uso veterinário como imobilizador ortopédico de forma a confeccionar uma órtese diretamente com a anatomia de paciente animal. Isto é conseguido através da combinação de materiais têxteis especialmente tratados com estrutura polimérica de baixo ponto de fusão, termicamente autocolante, de fácil moldagem que proporciona fácil, rápida e funcional estabilização das áreas imobilizadas após seu resfriamento. O material termoplástico da invenção possui em sua composição material têxtil base tecido e/ou nãotecido especialmente tratados com um processo de impermeabilização e aditivação antimicrobiana; estes tratamentos em sua(s) porções têxteis permitem que o produto tenha uma performance diferenciada em seu processo de aplicação e a capacidade de minimizar danos e lesões aos membros imobilizados. O material da invenção possui uma combinação de polímeros especiais que, devido à suas características de baixa temperatura de reativação térmica (entre 60°C a 90°C), taxa de recristalização baixa, ou seja, após aquecido até sua temperatura de amolecimento, o(s) polímero(s) permanecem maleáveis e com adesividade por um longo período de tempo (em geral superior a 60 segundos) e após o resfriamento do material à temperatura ambiente, retorna à rigidez e dureza original.

A fiber-reinforced composite article useful in supporting or immobilizing an injured body part is disclosed. The composite is a multi-layer, flexible precursor including fiber reinforcement plies, which can be rapidly cured into a rigid body using a thermosetting resin. Methods of making and using the same are also disclosed, along with kits containing such composite articles.

La présente invention est relative à une nouvelle bande de contention autoadhérente, notamment pour le traitement et la prévention des pathologies d'origine veineuse et les lymphœdèmes. Cette bande est fabriquée par l'assemblage de deux non tissés autoadhérents à base de fibres courtes conjuguées qui ont été frisées. Les fibres sont de préférence en polyester. La bande peut en outre comprendre une couche supplémentaire.

The invention relates to a method for making light-weight dimensionally stable wood- thermoplastic composite material composed of wood chips and a thermoplastic polycaprolactone. The manufacturing process of composite material comprising the steps of compounding virgin materials with single-screw extruder and production of uniform homogenous plate-like composite with calendering apparatus. The calendering process comprises of several cycles, folding, cooling and reheating steps. During the gentle manufacturing process fragile wood chips maintain their 3-D structural properties in polymer matrix resulting light, mechanically strong wood-plastic composite.

A composite material in the form of a linear structure having a width, a length and a thickness, comprising a composite material with a first component formed by a polymer and a second component formed by a reinforcing material, wherein the first component comprises a thermoplastic polymer selected from the group of biodegradable polymers and mixtures thereof, and the second component comprises a woody material derived from platy or granular wood particles. The composite material being formable at a temperature of about 50 to 70 ºC and it can be used as a blank for an orthopedic splint.

Dies wird möglich durch ein Verfahren, bei welchem das auspolymerisierte Polyurethanpolster wenigstens einem Vorbehandlungsschritt unterworfen wird, in welchem flüchtige BestandteiIe soweit entzogen werden, dass unmittelbar anschließend beschichtet werden kann.
