Abstract:
A method of reinforcing or repairing a bioprosthetic tissue for use as a prosthetic valve leaflet. The method includes evaluating a bioprosthetic tissue, identifying a defect in the bioprosthetic tissue, and selectively applying an adhesive to a surface of the bioprosthetic tissue at the defect prior to implantation in a patient.
Abstract:
Radiopaque medical cyanoacrylate compositions including a cyanoacrylate monomer; and a radiopacifier including nanoparticles having a mean size of less than about 15 nanometers (nm), wherein the nanoparticles do not substantially agglomerate within the composition at about 20 degrees Celsius (°C), and wherein the composition has a viscosity of between about 1,000 centipoise (cP) and about 2,000 cP.
Abstract:
An epoxy-based coating system for metal industrial equipment and parts provides superior abrasion resistance compared to known coating compositions. The coating system includes a resin component and a hardener component. The resin component includes one or more bisphenol epoxy resins and inorganic beads. The hardener component includes a butadiene acrylonitrile rubber, one or more curing agents, and inorganic beads. The resin component and hardener component are mixed together, applied to a metal surface, and cured to form the abrasion-resistant coating.
Abstract:
The disclosed conformable coating provides a highly durable and resilient film useful for protecting and repairing surfaces such as skin and mucous membranes. The coating comprises 0.1% to 65% wt. of a polymerized cyanoacrylate monomer and at least 35% wt. of an elastomer phase. The conformable coating composition comprises a polymerizable cyanoacrylate monomer, an elastomer, and a volatile liquid. The cyanoacrylate monomer is 0.1 to 65% wt. of the nonvolatile portion, the elastomer in an elastomer phase is at least 35% wt. of the nonvolatile portion, and the volatile liquid is at least 40% wt. of the total composition.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cyanoacrylate-based bio-adhesive composition, and aims to provide a cyanoacrylate-based bio-adhesive composition having an excellent biodegradability and anti-bacterial effect. The present invention provides a cyanoacrylate-based bio-adhesive composition having an enhanced biodegradability by using, as a thickening agent, poly octyl cyanoacrylate generated as a byproduct when preparing octyl cyanoacrylate, and having an excellent anti-bacterial effect by using 3,5-diiodo-4-pyridone-1-acetic acid as an anion stabilizer.
Abstract:
A medical adhesive composition comprising, based upon the total weight of the composition, from about 50 wt.% to about 99.9 wt.% of one or more a-cyanoacrylate monomers and from about 0,1 wt.% to about 5 wt.% of one or more non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAtDs), Suitable HSAlOs Include fbuprofen and acetaminophen. The resulting compositions provide enhances fibroblast proliferation and reduced cytotoxicity compared to compositions that do not contain NSAID.
